Gun hammer is a tool used to operate firearms. North Lauderdale, Florida is a city in Broward County, Florida, United States. The population was 41,819 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami metropolitan area. North Lauderdale is located on Broward Boulevard between Northwest Seventh and Northwest Eighth Avenues and on Atlantic Avenue between Northeast Fourth and Northeast Fifth Streets. The first Europeans to visit what is now North Lauderdale were Spaniards in 1513 when they explored the region as far north as Jupiter Inlet and as far west as Fort Myers Beach. Spanish sailors had landed in South America on their way from Havana to St. Augustine before sailing back around Cape Cuba to Key West and then upriver to St Petersburg (then known as Tampa) on November 3, 1513. On December 5, 1513 Pedro Menendez de Quevedo recorded information about an "island" or "Isle of Islam" that he called Isla da Marquesa near present-day Palm Beach County while sailing into Biscayne Bay under the command of Juan Ortizigo y Valdés; it was probably this landfall that Pedro Menendez de Quevedo later named Islaonna after his wife's mother–Isabel de Montoya y Quijada –or perhaps because he thought it resembled an island offChristmas Island (AUS). A Portuguese map from early 16th century depicted a small island east of Fort Lauderdale which may have been what modern day North Lauderdale was named for. There are no records of any European settlement in present-day North Lauderdale until 1795 when Captain John Smith sailed past what became known as ClubRock Point Light during his exploration of the Everglades River area including Miami Valley . In 1814 Lieutenant Colonel James Kenedy established Fort Brooke at Jacob's Creek just south of today's intersection of Northwest Eighth Street/Ninth Avenue and Southwest Third Street after retreating from Mexico during the Mexican War under General Antonio López de Santa Anna. The fort served primarily as a trading post with French traders who did business with General José Joaquín Cámpora along Lake Okeechobee south of where it stands today; however, by 1821 Kenedy had sold all but one building withinFort Brooke complex including most likely the fort chapel which still stands today adjacent to NW 10th Ave./NW 8th St., across from Evergreen Dr.) The site has been variously spelled 'Brooke' or 'Broeck'. In 1820 - 25 Major George Rogers founded two villages at mouth of creek: Live Oak Landing (now part of Coral Gables) and Garden City Landing near current day Dadeland Drive/Old Cutler Road.. These settlements grew rapidly due to trade with Indian tribes who used both sites for fishing, hunting and gathering resources such as shellfish, fowls, sugarcane syrup etc.; these people are also sometimes erroneously referred to as Seminoles though there is no evidence whatsoever that any tribe ever called itself Seminole although some documents mention them doing so….. After American independence in 1776 many Native Americans relocated eastward along U.S.– Cuban border seeking refuge from British forces under Governor Gabriel García Márquez…. This migration includes over 2 million Seminole Indians who left eastern Florida during three decades period ending c1812….. Many families remained behind choosing resettlement rather than return home after witnessing violence associated with military campaigns against their kin……… German colonists arrived circa 1800 mainly through Saint Petersburg trader Johann Friedrich Becher………. By 1902 only 4 percent – 1 percent –of total residents were African Americans…………………. However by 2000 nearly 60% – almost all black residents –were descended from enslaved Africans brought here prior to emancipation………………………………… Today’s community developed gradually following incorporation by local white citizens led by Mayor Claude Bentley……………………………………………………….. Development began slowly because few high-volume buyers Wanted To Purchase land Here............................................................................... With limited transportation infrastructure amenities such as water supply or schools those living here engaged primarily in subsistence farming………………….. As late night hours deepened more men ventured out into town searching for work................................................................. Most African Americans worked either side of tracks: menial jobs in factories or service industry businesses; women raised families outside traditional roles………………………………….. Unlike other major cities where rapid development has caused displacement tens if not hundreds of thousands more people remain largely unchanged sinceOriginal Community formative years

North Lauderdale, Florida is located in the state of Florida and is bordered by Miami to the south, Palm Beach County to the east, and Broward County to the north. The city was named for North Lauderdale in South Carolina, which at that time was a slave-holding community. In 1854, Jacksonville bought land from the heirs of North Lauderdale. Jacksonville then annexed North Lauderdale and other surrounding communities in 1875. The original town hall building still stands within the limits of modern-day North Lauderdale and is used as a community center today. In 1888, two brothers named John Fenton bought 1/4 of a league (1 acre) of swampy land near what is now downtown North Lauderdale for $3 per acre with an understanding that it would be developed into a town called "Fenton". They were not happy about this name being given to their development but decided to keep it because they thought people would eventually find out about it. The first buildings were built on this property in 1889. The growth ofNorth Lauderdale began rapidly after World War II when an area just south of downtown became known as "The Strip" because many businesses opened there during that time period including Pompano Beach Casino and various hotels such as Suncoast Resort & Casino and Marriott Marquis Hotel. The population grew so quickly that by 1960 only 7% of people lived in downtown; however, by 2000 almost all residents lived in or within close proximity to Downtown Disney which made it one of the most unique areas in all of Walt Disney World Resort. Today's boundaries include much more than just what is shown on map - much has changed since those early days when John Fenton set about developing what we know today as Downtown North Lauderdale!

The namesake of the city is Dr. Cornelius Vanderbilt Vanderbilt, who donated land for the city's development. In 1953, North Lauderdale became a part of Broward County and in 1998 it was annexed into neighboring Miami-Dade County
