North Lauderdale, Florida is a city in Broward County, Florida, United States. The population was 362 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Broward County. North Lauderdale was incorporated as a city on January 17, 1908. The area now known as North Lauderdale was first inhabited by the Timucua people. A fortuitous location for trade and hostile Native American encounters helped prompt English colonists to establish Fort Lauderdale in 1824 as part of a failed attempt to colonize South America; when that unsuccessful mission failed, Fort Lauderdale became an important trading center with its access to the Everglades and salt water rivers. The City of North Lauderdale's incorporation occurred during one of those periods of growth and progress: after years spent struggling through financial hard times brought on by prohibition issues, annexation created new opportunities and soon North Lauderdale grew into one of southern Florida's most prosperous cities. In addition to its role as a commercial hub for south-central Broward County, North Lauderdale also saw continued development in the early 20th century due to its position as the gateway town between Miami Beach and Palm Beach Heights. In 1912, developer Harry Weisbrod built what is now known as Weisman Place—the first high-rise apartment complex in what would become downtown Miami—in what had been a grassy lot next to his father’s citrus groves near Fort Worth Road and NW 8th Street (now Sunrise Boulevard). The town quickly became home to many millionaires thanks to its excellent transportation infrastructure: streetcar lines running through downtown made it easy for residents to get around;and two miles west from downtown were several major shopping districts which led directly onto Dixie Highway (Upper East Side) making it easy for visitors from Hollywood or Coral Gables access all that Miami had to offer without leaving their neighborhoods. This type of development continued throughout the 1920s until World War II interrupted this growth pattern when military planners turned their attention away from south-central Broward County but kept north-central Broward underdeveloped because they felt that if they developed it too much then businesses might move offshore or develop in other counties where taxes weren't high enough so developers could stop investing money into south-central Broward while still enjoying tax breaks After World War II ended came new waves of developers who wanted begin developing north-central Broward again like they did back in the 1920s but with higher taxes which made it difficult for them because business owners didn't want their investment going out than coming back so they started building condos instead which continue today
