The first real handgun was invented in 1836 by John Browning with his “Browning Rifle” which fired round projectiles weighing up to 400 grains (14 g). In 1848 a new type of bullet was developed which consisted ofa core of lead surrounded by an earthen casing filled with propellant gas. As this bullet moved through air it discharged its gaspressure causing the lead core to expand and fly outwards like a shotgun shell

New Smyrna Beach, Florida is a town in Pensacola County, Florida, United States. The population was 7,824 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pensacola–Filton Micropolitan Statistical Area. The name "New Smyrna" comes from the Irish words "Ní Sena" meaning "safe haven." In 1886, John A. Macdonald built a private ferry to cross the St. Johns River and named it after his home country of Canada. In 1907, New Smyrna Beach became an incorporated municipality with a full government by citizens and not by angels from Ottawa or Montreal as had been the case in many other small towns throughout America at that time. In 1959, construction began on what would become Naval Air Station (NAVY) New Smyrna Beach. NAS New Smyrna Beach would provide training for pilots and other aviation personnel for both American military forces stationed in Southeast Asia and for commercial airlines flying into and out of Miami International Airport during that period of Cold War hostilities between North America and Cuba. NAS New Smyrna Beach was one of several naval air stations established during World War II; others included Pensacola Naval Air Station (now Pensacola Marine Corps Base), Key West Naval Air Station (now keywest-pensacola international airport),and Jacksonville Naval Air Station (now Jacksonville International Airport).
