The history of gun targets in New Port Richey, Florida dates back to at least the1920s. At that time, target shooters in this area enjoyed using traditional methods (such as shooting at paper silhouettes) to hone their skills. One of the earliest Gun Targets in New Port Richey was built by Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Brown on Old Cutler Road in 1922. This facility was used for both educational purposes and for practicing breathing techniques when target shooting at night outdoors. In 1927, a new Gun Targets building was erected on US-27 just east of the old post office building on Central Avenue West. The new Target Facility served as a permanent place forshooters to practice their art form and also offered an excellent opportunity for spectators to watch the action firsthand! In 1936, Mr. and Mrs. Crain donated $5,000 towards the construction of a new Target Facility located east of State Road 40 between US-27 and Central Avenue West – this facility became known as “The Main Street Armory”! It was here that rifle, shotgun, pistol and airsoft games were first played during summer months! Over time,Gun Targets have become an integral part of many local community events across Florida! From birthday parties to Fourth of July celebrations, locals often gather around these facilities to enjoy good ol’ fashioned target shooting fun!

New Port Richey, Florida is a small town in Leon County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville metropolitan area. New Port Richey is bordered by Orange Beach on the north and east, Jacksonville on the south and west, Tallahassee on the northwest and Gainesville on the southwest. The first permanent settlers in what would become New Port Richey were James Sibley and his family who arrived in 1821 from Massachusetts. They built a log cabin near present-day Main Street and laid out a blockhouse road to protect their land from marauding Indian traders. In 1824 they built another cabin further downriver which still stands today as Sibley's Landing Point Inn (now known as Pompano Beach Pier). In 1827 Drury Bogue moved his family to what would become New Port Richey from Pensacola; he had been appointed Visitator for that county by President James K. Polk due to an influx of new settlers into that area following Seminole Wars fought between Spain and Russia over control of Florida's Gulf Coast region. Bogue purchased 4,000 acres (1 km2) of land at what is now Main Street corner with Fort Myers Road for $100 per acre ($4 per square meter). He named it "Bogue's Harbor" after himself and established a tavern there which became one of the most popular places for visitors in early days of this town - its attractions drew people from all around Eastern Florida for fishing trips, boat rides, picnics and ballgames ashore or upriver on live oak trees docked at Bogue's Harbor until 1903 when it was destroyed by fire during Hurricane Andrew). During Reconstruction period (1877-1913), many African Americans worked in local mills run by white businessmen such as Wm. Ahern & Bros., Willard Gibbs & Co., Jno Gorman & Sons etc.; some also homesteaded hereabouts along with whites who bought property subsequent to reconstruction using money earned during wartime production opportunities such as shipbuilding yards operated by various companies including Morgan Steamship Corp., Tampa Shipbuilding Co., Gulf Steam Navigation Co.. Many black families lived within walking distance of their homes while working off farm labors; access to education was limited but not unheard of given working class background so many experienced basic literacy skills including keeping track of dates/times etc.; nonetheless Integration efforts were ongoing throughout years leading up to federal civil rights legislation implementing desegregation orders issued by Ulysses S Grant administration; finally New Port Richey made history becoming racially mixed beginning with first black military officer being commissioned hereon December 10th 1941 when Major General Edwin Walker arrived with First Marine Division marching through town followed later that day by First Lt Col Clarence Hillman Jr.. parade concluded with racial integration ceremonies conducted at newly constructed Pompano Beach High School just prior to Christmas 1944... Today much like then life revolves around fishing season starting late May thru October followed closely by hurricane season November thru March making landfall about once every 2 months making landfall anywhere within 100 miles (160 kilometers) generally centered about 30 miles (50 kilometers) southeast or northeast of where flag flown

New Port Richey is a town in Pinellas County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,237 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tampa-St Petersburg-Clearwater metropolitan area and is the most populous city in Pinellas County. New Port Richey was founded by General John J. Pershing on December 3, 1892 as Fort Brookeborough on the site of what is now known as Battleship Boulevard. The fort served as an artillery installation and post during World War I and II before becoming a commercial center for agriculture and fishing until it was abandoned in the 1960s. In the early 21st century, New Port Richey became known for its startup businesses related to technology, including several software companies and three start-ups that have been named "Silicon Valley's 50 Best Companies." The first Europeans to visit what is now New Port Richey were fishermen from St. Petersburg who set up their own wharf there in 1699 after finding natural resources at nearby Palm Harbor. They called it Fort Brookeborough because General James Brooke had commanded American forces during the Spanish–American War (1898). After America’s entry into World War I, Fort Brookeborough became an artillery installation used by both sides in support of belligerent efforts along Tampa Bay shorefront. After WWI ended with armistice Day on November 11, 1918, Fort Brookeborough reverted back to status as a military post near today’s intersection of Shipman Road/Battleship Boulevard/Fort Brooke Boulevard/Highway 1A south of downtown Sarasota north of Clearwater Beach In 1924 Captain Franklin Ewart Key organized a group of businessmen led by himself to revive commerce at Clearwater Beach through development activities such as constructing sidewalks and filling piers with goods brought overland by ships docking there from Tampa Bay.. This effort failed but Key again tried starting another business venture when he bought 5 acres (20 hectares) east of present day First Street NE adjacent to high school property original leased from Fenton Manufacturing Company heirs trust c1920 for $25 per acre subsequent donations freehold land conveyed freehold 1925 First real estate activity began on this lot with purchases by Will Rogers Sr., father of William S Rogers Surveyor general contractor extraordinaire responsible for building many fine residences across US Naval Base towards southeast corner historic Tamiami Trail then Now Moore Park Drive connected old Plantation Rd thence northeasterly along Plantation Rd past current day First Street NE finally holding title deed through Trustees Appointment dated July 29 1928 from Mrs Gertrude Schneider Spencer owner widow direct descendant direct lineal descendant niece residuary legatee under Oath said lease giving right upon conveyance forever to use same name & appurtenance without rent or other compensation except firewood necessary incidental thereto which they provided also power lines running thru lot tht service nowadays being run thru substation adjoining school
On November 3, 1892, New Port Richey was incorporated as a town. It was named after the port of New Orleans. The original town site was located on what is now the northern edge of the city of Jacksonville. In 1907, the town annexed part of Jacksonville and became a municipality. In 1912, it annexed another part of Jacksonville and became an independent city. The first mayor of New Port Richey was Jules Ahern. The current mayor is Joe D’Alessandro
