They built schools, churches, businesses, and homes that still stand today. In 1901 they also donated land for what is now Gulf Coast Regional Airport which served the community until it was closed in 2006 due to budget cuts made by then Mayor Bob Buckhorn. Today New Port Richey is home to many businesses that contribute to its economy such as Macy’s Department Stores (now Macy's Place), BP gas stations (now known as ExxonMobil), Walmart Supercenters (now Sam's Club), Ford dealership (now dodge). It also has a population of around 953 people who are responsible for making this small town one of the most active in Pasco County!

New Port Richey's economy was based largely on its fishing industry, which has since been replaced by more modern methods.
