The only watercourse in town is the Noyes River which flows into Hillsborough Bay south of Mount Dora. As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 1,452 people, 442 households, and 291 families residing in the town. The population density was 914.8 people per square mile (355.6/km²). There were 590 housing units at an average density of 379.3 per square mile (150.0/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 92% White; 3% African American; 2% Native American; 0% Asian; 1% from other races; and 2% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latinoof any race were 2%.
