Miramar, Florida is a city in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 56,163 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami metropolitan area. The City of Miramar was founded on December 3, 1892 by the merger of two small towns: Buena Vista and San Pedro. In 1911, Miramar annexed the neighboring town of Belleview. On November 15th 1918, Miramar incorporated as a city under the name "Miramar." On July 7th 1982, Mayor Arturo Armas signed an ordinance that repealed all zoning ordinances that had been in place for more than 10 years because they were considered to be discriminatory against African Americans. This ordinance led to increased black competition for jobs and housing in what would become downtown Miramar. On October 2nd 1992 Mayor Arturo Armas signed an ordinance which establishes ParkMiami as a public park adjacent to I-95 south of US 1 with a combined surface area of . The park will include a full range of sports and recreational opportunities including baseball diamonds; tennis courts; playgrounds;a swimming pool;a football field; and several miles (16 km) of bike trails

Miramar is a small, rural town in Nassau County, Florida. It was founded by the Volstead family in 1855 as a citrus farm. The Miramar post office was established in 1859, and the first store opened in 1865. In 1870, the Miramar Baptist Church was built on land that now lies within the town limits. The town's only school was built in 1922 and closed in 1979. In 1984, Miramar became home to Florida's first international golf tournament. One of Miramar's most famous residents is former Governor of Florida Jeb Bush (R). He grew up here and attended local schools before attending Yale University where he played college football for Yale Bulldogs football team from 1971 to 1975. After graduation, he worked as an investment banker at Jardine & Lee before becoming governor of Florida in 1998 after defeating incumbent Bob Martinez (D). In 2001, Hurricane Mitch struck the area and destroyed much of what remained ofMiramar - including its library - but Bush rebuilt it with state funding using his own money and private donations. As part of his rebuilding efforts, he also restored downtown Miramar into its original condition while creating new businesses along Aventura Street that have since become icons of the community such as Jardine's Warehouse which reopened following a $100 million renovation project completed earlier this year; Hooters restaurant which reopened with new management last fall; and Aqua Fitness Club which has been open since 2002 providing health/fitness services to local residents free of charge through partnerships with government agencies like Miami-Dade County Department of Health Services etc.. Bush left office after two terms as governor due to term limits set forth by then-Florida Senator Bill Nelson (D) but has continued to support various charitable causes throughout his life outside politics including Boys & Girls Clubs Of Broward County where he currently serves on the boardwalk sidekick; giving speeches at middle elementary schools across America about children’s opportunities regardless of socioeconomic background or race etc... Recently Jeb returned topolitics when he announced that he will run for President again in 2020 against incumbent Donald Trump
The Miramar Peninsula was originally part of the Plantation of Santa Fe. The peninsula, which measures about 110 miles long and 30 miles wide at its widest point, is made up of high white sand beaches, cattle ranges, and piney woods. The area was first settled by Native Americans in the early 1800s. In 1819, Spanish traders founded a small settlement on the peninsula named San Miguel de Allende. By 1830, the town had grown to include a post office and several homes. However, because of its distance from any major river or harbor, San Miguel never became very popular among settlers. In 1835, Englishman John Sutter discovered oil seeps on the peninsula and began developing the land around them into a oil field. This led to increased development around Miramar and other parts of Florida as well. By 1860, Miramar had become one of America's most important naval bases during the Civil War. After the war ended in 1865,Miramar continued to be an important center for maritime trade until it was supplanted by Jacksonville in 1870s with its rise to prominence as a transportation hub for south Florida's citrus industry During World War II, Miramar played an important role in supporting U.S Navy operations off Japan through Operation Husky . During this time there were also some significant naval engagements fought at nearby Necker Island .Miramar also became home to two Marine Corps units when they arrived following World War II: The 1st Battalion (Marine) Regiment (First Marine Division), based here from 1943-1945; then again from 1951-1955 After Miramar's destruction due to Hurricane Andrew in 1992 many businesses left but new ones have started up such as DreamWorks Animation which moved their corporate headquarters from Hollywood Hills to Miramar after being headquartered there since 1990
