The name change reflects the changing demographics around town: At that time it consisted primarily (> 80%)of white Floridians who worked within or adjacent to their homes; most African American residents lived closer to Interstate 95 or Orlando than they didMiramar Village (). A post office called "Miramar" opened in 1903,[1] but no mail ever arrived there because only men could send letters at that time.(The first mail service through Miramar went out by horse drawn wagons.) In 1912 an electrician named Wm Purdy built an office building north side Lakeland Drive near present day International Boulevard just west of US 192/SR 229 (now S Orange Blossom Trail). From 1914 thru 1946 Mrs Nellie Kapp ran a children's clothing store across International Boulevard from her home; closed because she couldn't get customers during prohibition! Residents were busy entertaining visiting dignitaries such as Presidents Franklin D Roosevelt (1932), Harry Truman (1941), Dwight Eisenhower (1961), etc.; President John F Kennedy stayed at Mrs Kapp's home from November 20–24, 1963 . After WW II ended development continued slowly until 1955 when construction began on seacoastside housing developments called ""Bay Oaks"" which included several schools including Peninsula School District #1010 ();[2][3] these developments remain some of Miami Beach’s most popular tourist destinations today – all while still maintaining significant residential values within their boundaries! As early as 1956 there were plans for annexation by Broward County which never happened due largely to jurisdictional differences between those two counties.– Census data reflect about 85% white households & 15% black households

Many American soldiers who served in Europe were stationed in or lived near Miramar, including General George Smedley Butler Jr., commanding general of Allied forces in Europe at the time. In 1949, following Decatur County's annexation into Miami-Dade County, Miramar again came under state control as part of that county's urban development plan. As part of this plan, miramaranerans began moving out of their longtime homes and into new subdivisions throughouttowns within Miami-Dade County as well as into other parts of South Florida for work opportunities and tax subsidies from state government officials. By 1970, only a handful of original residents remained inMiramar proper; most people living there now commute to other parts of Miami-Dade County for work or school purposes.
