The Miami Springs Shooting Protection Association was formed in 1978 to provide shooting safety education for law enforcement and the public. In 1984, the MSPA began providing shooting protection products and services to its members. Today, the MSPA provides a wide range of shooting protection products and services including: holster systems, muzzle devices, protective clothing, ammunition storage containers and more. In 2002, the National Rifle Association (NRA) donated a shotgun simulator to be used by MSPA members as part of their firearms safety program. The NRA also supported MSPA's efforts to raise money for charity through its Gun Violence Prevention Project. In 2007, MSPA became an affiliate member of The Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association (GVA). This affiliation allows us to share best practices with our member manufacturers and helps promote responsible gun ownership within our community. Today, the Miami Springs Shooting Protection Association is committed to providing shooters with the safest possible experience while engaging in lawful activity in our community. There are several shopping malls within close proximity to Miami Springs: one just south of the town center near US 27 and State Road 509; another across US27 from the library; and a third just north of US 27 on State Road 512 about two miles east of downtown Kissimmee. There are also several restaurants and bars throughout the village - including two movie theaters (the Parkway Place Cinema & Parkway Amusement Park) - as well as an ice cream parlor, farmers market, post office,Drugstore/ pharmacies, three large churches - First Baptist Church (founded in 1892), Second Baptist Church (founded in 1928), and Third Presbyterian Church (founded in 1949) - all within walking distance of each other or less than one mile away if driving on I-4 or I-5 Exit 9A/Exit 8B which leads into Kissimmee Proper

Miami Springs is a small community located in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The population was 1,554 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the South Miami-Ft. Lauderdale Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community was started by farmers in the early 1800s who used to live near what is now Overtown and Miracle Mile in Miami Beach. By 1915, there were only about 20 people living in the area, but it quickly grew with the arrival of railroad workers and their families. In 1923, a sawmill built on a stream near present-day NW 6th Avenue produced lumber for local homes and businesses until it closed in 1957. In 1954, Wernher von Braun donated land adjacent to his home on SW 157th Street for an aerospace testing center called Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). JPL became one of America’s leading research institutions following its creation when President Eisenhower authorized NASA’s first space mission – Apollo 11 – on July 20, 1969. Since then, JPL has played an important role in many aspects of American society including space exploration; development of advanced technologies such as computer chips and smartphone apps; propulsion technology for spacecraft; cancer research; farming; agricultural production methods; homeland security initiatives such as the National Security Agency's XKeyscore program and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption technology development at JPL's Advanced Encryption Standard laboratory known as SSL Labs."
Miami Springs was established in 1892 as a small community of about 25 people. In 1952, it became the county seat of Miami-Dade County. The population of Miami Springs grew rapidly after World War II, and by 1970 it had reached 500 residents. In 1978, Miami Springs voters approved the annexation of nearby Bayside into the town. By 2000, Miami Springs had grown to 1,000 residents and was home to several businesses including a bank and a shopping mall. In December 2013, Hurricane Sandy caused extensive damage to parts of Miami-Dade County and many homes were destroyed or damaged. At its peak in October 2014, the population of Miami Springs was 2,500 people; however, by January 2015 it had dwindled to around 800 residents due to the impact of the hurricane and lack of available housing.
