The Miami Springs community is home to a rich firearm history. The area has been inhabited by native Americans for centuries, and early European settlers arrived in the late 18th century. In 1892, two groups of men – one from Ohio and the other from Illinois – founded Miami Springs Gun Club in order to purchase and sell firearms. The club met monthly during the summer months, and soon became an important part of the community. In 1903, Miami Springs was incorporated as a town. At first, it consisted of just a few homes and a few businesses. However, over time, the town grew rapidly and developed into a popular tourist destination due to its wide variety of amenities (including a gun shop) as well as its location within easy reach of both Tampa and Jacksonville. In 1937, Miami Springs became an official city after being granted annexation by Hillsborough County. During World War II, Miami Springs played an important role in the war effort by providing munitions for military operations throughout Florida. A large arsenal was built at the town’s old post office (now known as City Hall), which helped produce many high-quality guns that were used in combat during the war. After the war ended,Miami Springs continued to grow rapidly; by 1970 it had reached its current size with over 100 businesses located on nearly 2 square miles downtown! Today, Miami Springs is home to some of Florida’s most unique attractions; including its famous golf courses (which are often considered among the best in Florida), its art galleries/museums/, and its world-renowned shopping mall! It also remains an important cultural center for both local residents and visitors alike; serving as both a place where people come to enjoy nature while enjoying delicious food options, AND where locals can learn more about their county’s history through events like Heritage Day!

The Miami Springs Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in 1903. The first gun club in the area was formed at a farm near present day Miami Springs, Fla., on Decatur Street. A rifle and pistol club was started by John Purdy in 1915 and it met at the home of Capt. Harry Crouse. In 1917, another rifle and pistol club was organized in Miami Springs by Geo. Sayers, Sr. The first meeting place for these clubs was the old post office building on Second Street where they continued to meet until 1951 when their meetings moved to the present day site of Veterans Memorial Park on Northwest First Street.
Miami Springs, Florida is a small town in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The population was 9,362 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Miami–Fort Lauderdale–Pompano Beach Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community was founded by English colonists in 1881 and named for Dr. James C. Wellman, who had been a professor at the University of Havana before moving to South America to do research on plant diseases. When Wellman returned to South America he found that his plants were being killed by an insect known as the "Mimosa bug". He named his new community after himself and deposited $10,000 into its inaugural fund so that it could be developed as a resort spa. In 1902, Miami Springs became reality with the opening of its first hotel - the Spanish Colonial Revival-style Dolphin Hotel - and other businesses followed soon afterwards including a grocery store, ice cream parlor, restaurant and nightclubs. By 1945 there were over 100 businesses in Miami Springs with a population of 10,000 people and it had become one of South Florida's most significant tourist destinations thanks to its wide range of activities including tennis tournaments (the first tennis tournament ever held in South Florida), country music concerts (the biggest annual event in town), shopping malls (including one called "The Mall" which featured several large department stores), golf courses (both public and private) and luxury resorts such as The Colony Club near Fort Lauderdale Airport. In recent years growth has slowed however due to low birth rates among both tourists and residents; nevertheless many businesses remain open while others have closed because of lack of demand or competition from newer establishments nearby

Miami Springs was originally called "Fortress Monroe" after the United States military base that once stood there. The name changed to Miami in 1847 because of its location on the old mouth of the Miami River. In 1916, Miami Springs became a city and has been growing ever since.
