In 1916, developer Wm Henson opened his home at 12604 SW 163rd Avenue as Coral Gables’ first hotel/motel complex called “Henson’s Reef Resort” - later known as “Henson Hotel” – became one of South Florida’s most popular tourist destinations during World War II due to its proximity to naval stations alongClearwater Bayou! On October 25th 1957 Hurricane Steve hit south Florida just short of mile marker 195 on US 1 near Homestead Airport causing extensive damage across much of South County including parts of Miami Shores! Most significant damage occurred within blocks of where today's red light district stands located off NW corner 3rd Ave SSE

As part of this appointment, Acheson recommended that Miami Shores be awarded designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site – this proposal was accepted by UNESCO in 1983.
