In 1940, The Wessels' Gun Shop merged with Mr. John Laughlin's Arms & Ammunition Company to form Laughlin Firearms Corporation. This company became one of the leading firearms retailers in South Florida for many years. In 1964, Laughlin Firearms Corporation merged with American Outdoor Brands (AOBC) to become AOBC-Laughlin Firearms Corporation. AOBC-Laughlin Firearms Corporation continued to operate as a separately owned subsidiary until it was acquired by Colt Incorporated in 1998 pursuant to an agreement between Colt and AOBC that included the sale of all assets of AOBC-Laughlin Firearms Corporation except for certain property holdings that Colt assumed control of including both its manufacturing operations and its retail stores throughout much of South Florida including Miami Shores where it remains today as part of Colt USA Incorporated
Miami Shores is a small town in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The population was 5,951 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Sawgrass Peninsula and has a long history of being a resort town. The area around Miami Shores was first inhabited by Native American tribes and later became part of Spanish Fort. During World War II, the military built an airfield here to support aerial operations over Cuba. In 1948, the community became official when it was annexed into Miami and its county seat moved to Wynwood. Since then, Miami Shores has undergone various changes, most notably becoming a popular tourist spot for retirees and students in nearby University Park. The economy of Miami Shores is based largely on tourism with some Manufacturing activity also taking place hereabouts such as manufacturing of boats, boat parts and other wood products used in construction. There are also several restaurants and cafes serving up healthy eats close to the shopping center which makes it great for people who want to stay fit as well as people who just want to relax after exploring all that's going on near by!

Miami Shores, Florida is a small town located on the Gulf of Mexico in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The population was 4,451 at the 2010 census. In 1903, Miami Shores was founded by J.C. Nichols and his family who were farmers. The name Miami Shores came from the combination of "miami" (a word meaning "water" or "stream") and "shores" (a term that means tidal waves). In 1907, J.C.) Nichols built what is now known as the Nichols Boat House which still stands today and has been used as a restaurant and library since 1922. In 1957, Miami Shores became an incorporated city with its own government and police department. The first post office in Miami Shores was established in 1916 under the name of Muskegon Heights and served Muskegon Heights until it closed in 1918 because of World War I service restrictions. The first store in Miami Shores was established in 1921 by Wanda Starbuck under the name First American Store Ltd.. After World War II, many businesses opened up throughout downtownMiamiShore such as movie theaters, convenience stores, banks, auto body shops etc., but most closed within a few years due to lack of business opportunities or Hurricane Marianne's aftermath damage which destroyed many businesses including several banks which left residents stranded without money to buy food or rebuild homes.
