That year, a group of businessmen in that town decided to start a store called “The Gun Store.” The store was located on Key Biscayne Boulevard and sold firearms and ammunition. It is said that the store was so successful that it became known as the “gun merchant of Miami Shores.” Over time, The Gun Store continued to be a staple in the community and played an important role in both the local gun culture and its economic development. In 1916, The Gun Store moved from Key Biscayne Boulevard to 3rd Street in order to take advantage of new zoning regulations that allowed businesses on streets with more than one block to operate. By 1937, The Gun Shop had become well-known throughout Miami Shores for its unique selection of firearms and Ammunition products. During World War II, The Gun Shop was among the first businesses inMiamiShoresto open up shop supplying military personnel with weapons and equipment. After the war ended, TheGunShop reopened its doors full-time as a firearms retailer once again serving customers from all over South Florida. In 1976, The Gun Shop closed its doors for good after more than 50 years of business in MiamiShores- but not before leaving an indelible mark on the community’s firearm history! owner Abe Rosenthal donated all profits from his store liquidation (approximately $2 million) to help establish MiamiShores Community Foundation which continues to promote education about arms control laws and Second Amendment rights today!

On December 1st 2006, Miami Shores voted overwhelmingly to annex Broward County; this action marked the first time that a municipality in Miami-Dade had annexed another county since 1987 when Homestead Beach annexed Fort Lauderdale Township.

In 1946, Jerry Shores married his second wife, Marie. They bought another duplex in 1951 and renamed it Coral Gables because of its climate similarity to coral reefs in the Caribbean Sea. The townsite grew quickly due to its location on a tidal creek that attracted maritime businesses such as shipyards and lumber mills. By 1970, there were over 100 businesses in Miami Shores with a population of 3,000 people. The town's growth continued until Hurricane Donna struck the area on December 15th of that year causing extensive damage to many businesses and homes including Don's duplex which received much attention from the media due to itsBiblical proportions: It had a roof made outof twenty-six tiles weighing one ton each! Don Shores rebuilt his house using salvaged materials but ultimately lost everything he had invested in the town during its early years." Today, most residents of Miami Shores maintain close connections with their hometown by visiting regularly either for family reunions or business meetings; however some vacationers do make the trip upriver for more luxurious settings like Key Largo or Fort Lauderdale."
