In fact, one of Miami Lakes’ earliest residents was a man named John Lamberton who owned a shotgun shop on Flagler Street. Lamberton was responsible for helping to formulate the ordinance that prohibited handguns in Miami Lakes in 1938. The gunswivels that are now common in many communities were first developed in Miami Lakes by members of the United States Rifle Association (USRA). At that time, shotguns and rifles were both used extensively for hunting purposes. As hunting became more difficult to do due to changing regulations and advances in technology,gun swivels became more popular among shooters. Today, these devices are still widely used by shooters throughout Miami Lakes County. The USRA's invention of gun swivels has been credited with creating a new type of firearm accessory that is now commonly used by millions of people all over the world. Gunswivels provide shooters with an easy way to change their shooting position without having to remove their firearms from storage or carry them around separately. They also allow multiple shooters to share one target without having to worry about which weapon goes where when they move between positions. Swivel guns are often used for competitions and range use as well as personal protection tasks such as self-defense or defense against predators or burglars. On November 1, 1934, the Miami Lakes Rifle and Pistol Club was organized with a goal of “promoting the use of firearms for hunting purposes in Miami Lakes and surrounding areas.” The club made its first appearance at a shooting competition held at the Wacoopy Golf Course on December 3rd. The rifle and pistol competitions were initially sanctioned by the NRA but eventually became an event open to all members of the club. In 1937, the club sponsored its first annual tournament which raised money for local charities. From 1938 through 1951, the Miami Lakes Rifle & Pistol Club donated rifles and pistols to various government agencies such as Knight's Cross Awards given to military veterans in recognition of their service. In 1951, after many years of sponsorship by local businesses and individuals, the Miami Lakes Rifle & Pistol Club disbanded due to lack of finances. However, because it was an NRA-sanctioned event that had helped promote gun safety withinMiamiLakes area, it was reinstated as a member organization in 1978 under new management. Since then, MLRPC has continued to sponsor events such as shotgun championships (held every other year), target shooting tournaments (held every few months), muzzleloading contests (held annually) and Hasbrouck Heights Gun Show (a biennial show dedicated to collector’s items from all over Florida).
Miami Lakes is a census-designated place in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 6,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami metropolitan area and is the southernmost incorporated community in Miami-Dade County. The name "Miami Lakes" comes from two small lakes that line its eastern border: Miracle Lake on the east side and Jupiter Lake on the west side. The communities were named for General James K. Polk who had his headquarters at one of these lakes before he moved to Washington D.C.. The first town in Miami Lakes was called Victory Park after General Polk's victory over Mexico at Monterrey in 1846. The second town was founded by John Chilton in 1858 as a result of land grants he received from President James K Polk. On October 15, 1907, Miami Lakes became a city with a population of 8,000 people when it joined the City of Coral Gables proper; this merger was effected following an election campaign where Mayor Lorenzo Thomas won re-election against challenger George Cushingman by 327 votes to 216 ballots out of 3,611 cast - an all time high percentage margin for any mayoral race in Coral Gables at that time (it has since fallen). In 1912, during World War I when American troops were deployed throughout Europe and more than 1 million soldiers enlisted within Florida alone...the Battle of Santiago saw many residents contribute their goods and services to support both homefront needs as well as military efforts through militia service organizations such as local chapters of the American Red Cross Blood Service Committee which later become known as "The Salvation Army". Many businesses closed during those wartime riots but continued operation until early 1945 due to lack of other business opportunities available nearby; however most citizens spent their downtime helping families or joining forces with patriotic groups who were also engaged in war effort activities such as food production or parading through downtown streets leading up to Marine Barracks located on Northwest First Street across from Roosevelt Elementary School today occupied by Citrus Manor Senior Living Community...Marketing materials distributed by The Salvation Army proclaim "A Time To Serve"..."

In the early 1800s, Miami Lakes was a small community on the banks of the St. Johns River near Jacksonville, Florida. The community was founded by English settlers in 1795 and named after Sir Christopher Manx, who had purchased land along the river. The manor house and other buildings were constructed in red brick with buff-colored mortar. In 1824, a bridge over the river was built and Miami Lakes became an important transportation hub for goods moving between Jacksonville and Tampa. During World War II, Miami Lakes served as an airfield for fighters from nearby Tampa Airport. The community also developed into a social center for citrus farmers in southwest Florida during this time period. In 1951, Miami Lakes was renamed to honor General James Moseley (1847-1921), commander of Allied troops at Normandy during World War II. The town experienced various transformations in recent years. In 2006, it was announced that Miami Lakes would be merged with neighboring Clearwater into a new city called "Miamisburg". This move is part of an effort to improve infrastructure within the city boundaries while preserving cultural attractions such as the Clearwater Performing Arts Center and Dolphin Stadium which are located in suburban Miami Gardens
The Miami Lakes area was first settled by Native Americans in the late 1500s. The area became a part of Spanish Florida during the early 1800s. In 1821, the United States acquired Florida from Spain. The area was named after Miami, which is inMiami-Dade County, Florida. The name was changed to Miami-Hollywood in 1926 due to Hollywood movies being filmed in and around the area.
