Miami Gardens, Florida is a city in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 21,744 at the 2010 census. The city is part of the Miami metropolitan area. It is bordered by Everglades National Park to the north and east; Biscayne Bay to the south; and Kendall County to the west. The first mention of Miami Gardens was in 1882 when it was called "Villa Belize." In 1898, Miami Grove Plantation was founded on what is now Northwest Third Street and Northwest Fifth Avenue in what is today's downtown Miami Gardens. In 1912, Aventura Boulevard (later renamed Roosevelt Boulevard) was established as a main street through Miami Lakes. By 1926 all but two blocks of South Beach had been annexed by Miami Gardens and became part of its municipal government with their own City Hall and other public buildings. During World War II there were several large munitions plants located in or near this community including: Wernher Hagen-Munson company plant No. 2 on NW Second Avenue; General Dynamics Marine Ammunition Plants No. 1 on NW Second Avenue between Shea Drive and Kirova Road; Bethlehem Steel Corporation's Shipbuilding Yards Nos 3 & 4 at NW Fourth Avenue between Eighth Street and Ninth Street/Ninth Terrace; Republic Steel Company's Plant No 6 across Third Street from Flagler Hospital on Key Biscayne Blvd.; American Bridge Company's bridge over I-95 just east of Northwest First Ave./I-95 exit 163A which led into South Beach (now Downtown). These plants produced over one million tons of explosives which helped contribute to the war effort such as creating bridges throughout Southeast Asia that facilitated military shipments critical for victory against Japan. After World War II ended many plants closed down including Republic Steel Company's Plant No 6 which reopened in 1951 after being taken over by Allis Chalmers Corporation who used it for linehanization operations until 1984 when it closed again due to technological advances once again returning back to Allis Chalmers Corporation who operates it currently as an museum known as "Allis Chalmers Corp.'s Shipbuilding Yards" currently housing artifacts from numerous days during ship building process starting with early 1800s up until present day operation

In Miami Gardens, Florida, the city of 17,000 residents was founded in 1903 by real estate developer A. Philip Randolph. The city became a focus for citrus production and during World War II it served as an airfield for the Allies. After the war, Miami Gardens experienced rapid growth as a result of its position as a bedroom community for South Beach and its close proximity to Fort Lauderdale and Hollywood. In the late 1960s, Miami Gardens began to experience significant decline due to declining population levels and associated development around it. However, in recent years there has been renewed interest in the city due to its history and attractions. Miami Gardens began as a small farming village located on the eastern edge of what is now Miami-Dade County. It was first settled by Seminole Indians who hunted game near present-day Miracle Mile Park. The area now known as Miami Gardens was first peopled by European settlers in 1821 when Spanish colonists arrived with plans to build a mission hereabouts. However, construction on the original mission stalled because of lack of funds; instead, they built Santiago de Cuba Mission which was abandoned in 1835 after only two months’ occupancy owing to severe weather conditions that included Hurricane Andrew (a category 5 storm). By 1839 only 70 acres were still being developed within what is today Miami Gardens when Captain James Kapp discovered oil fields nearby while mapping refineries he had been working on behalf of Confederate forces at Key West! With this new discovery came new opportunities for land speculation which led to rapid growth throughout north central Florida including portions of what is now Miami Gardens including plantations belonging to Brickell slaveowners such as John Leland who purchased 1,500 slaves from Isaac Brockenhurst and his widow Lucy between 1800-1850! The plantation period ended with most slaves being freed following American independence but some continued working until 1865 when their owners sold them off into slavery again! Most black laborers worked on sugar cane plantations until about 1915 when electric lighting became available which allowed workers more leisure time for socializing and other activities! Although many white families also resided in earlyMiamiGardens they increasingly shifted away from agriculture starting about 1900 due primarily to rising prices for labor spawned by advances in transportation technologies like railroadroads! From 1901 until 1967 much development took place just east of I-95 along Sunrise Boulevard with no major impact on local resident populations although limited residential areas did develop across several blocks adjacent Toombs Road (now Bayview Avenue) – these areas are now known collectively as Overtown/South Beach/Brickell Neighborhoods! Eastside neighborhoods such Asbury Park (west side) offNW corner Of Sunrise Blvd & NW 3rd St & Cedar Rd; Garden City west side offSW corner Of Third Street & NW 10th Ave; Midtown east side offE corner Of First Street & US 1st Ave; Little Haiti east side SW cornerOf Fourth Street And NE 11th Ave………. All these areas experienced significant population growth rates (~30%, 50%, 80%) well above average rates observed throughout much older parts of town prior thereto……….. Development happened quickly without regard!!
