Miami Gardens, Florida is a city in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,876 at the 2010 census. The city was named for Miami Beach on the west coast of what is now Miami Gardens and it became a municipality in 1903. It received its current name from General James K. Polk Drive which runs through it. The City of Miami began to form in 1892 when land east of I-95 was donated by Colonel John Hagee and Captain John Ahern to be used as a Township for the Promotion of Agriculture and Commerce within the limits of Indian Territory (now Miami-Dade County). In 1903, General James K. Polk Drive was chosen as the name for this new township and it became a municipality on November 4, 1903 with Wm. Crayton as Mayor and Elisha Browning as First Deputy Mayor. On December 3rd 1904, Hurricane Andrew flooded much of downtown Miami Gardens including all but one block of General James K. Polk Drive; however no damage or loss occurred to either structure or people inside because all public buildings were evacuated before landfall hit that day! This made Andrew the first major hurricane to ever visit South Florida in over fifty years! In 1925, during construction of US 75/SR 7 between Northwest 21st Street and Northwest 36th Street (later State Road 527), part of SR 7 was diverted southbound along SW 2nd Avenue towards NW 35th Street due to flooding caused by heavy rains from Hurricane Fenton on October 25th 1924 which struck just north of where SR 7 crossed over into Miami Gardens concurrent with US75/SR 7 construction; this also coincided with peak tourist season in South Florida that year!

After years of peaceful resistance, the Arawaks surrendered to Spanish colonial rule in 1539 and were forcibly relocated to what is now southwest Florida. In 1887, a group of citizens from New Orleans purchased 640 acres (240 hectares) of land in what is now Miami Gardens and began developing it into a residential community. The town quickly became popular for its skiing and snowboarding resorts; its location close to both Miami Beach Boulevard and First Street made it an ideal place for businesses such as hotels and stores. By 1928, Miami Garden had over 10,000 residents, including 1,500 children under the age of 12. During World War II, many American soldiers are thought to have lived in or visited Miami Gardens during their military service; some believe that this population may have helped contribute to the town’s rapid growth after the war ended. In 1964, when Coral Gables became part ofMiami-Dade County, most ofthe original housing stock in Miami Gardens was left behind. However, thanks to efforts by local officials and developers alike, much of that housing has been restored or replaced over time – making it one of South Florida’s most vibrant communities today. In addition to its active community life, Miami Gardens also offers access to a wide variety of recreational opportunities: from golf courses and tennis courts to swimming pools and amusement parks – all within walking distance from each other! Today’s Miami Garden is indebted largely to its rich history – both before and after Hurricane Floyd struck early last year – but there are no limits on how future generations can observe or participate in its unique culture while still enjoying easy access to everything they need without leaving their home borough!
Miami Gardens was a large, secluded community in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. It was located on the east side of Miami Gardens proper and served as a popular retirement spot for many well-to-do citizens. The community had a post office from 1916 to 1966.
