By 1915,Captain John Fripp had developed some 5 miles (8 km) of beach frontage at present-day Miami Beach proper along Bay Front Avenue between Lincoln Road and NW 62nd Street. During World War II, many naval officers stationed in Miami were given posts on Black Jack Key where they could watch Big Muddy Bay from their warm living quarters onshore while serving their country during wartime military operations off shore……..Today this key still remains an important naval post…..[it] provides excellent views over Big Muddy Bay without having to leave your living quarters

In 1928, the first American-made microscope was sold at an exhibition in Miami Beach. The company that would later become Nikon also started business in Miami Beach in 1932. By the early 1960s,Miami Beaches had become a center for astronomy with numerous observatories and research facilities dotting its landscape. During the 1970s, scopes became more popular among residents of Miami Beach as they were offered for sale by dealers on city streets or at several local radio stations. These dealers often featured models from prominent telescope manufacturers such as Celestron, Orion, and Leitz among others. During this time period, many people enjoyed using scopes to view astronomical phenomena such as lunar eclipse predictions or star sightings from their homes or balconies. Many of these Scopes were still being used well into the 1990s when new telescopes began becoming available for purchase on the open market.

The development of modern scopes began in the late 1800s when German scientist Karl Friedrich Lambert built a reflecting telescope that could image things as far away as 82 million miles away. This gave astronomers the ability to see nebulae, galaxies, and other cosmic objects that they would have been unable to spot with earlier models. Today, scopes are used by researchers all over the world for studying different aspects of astronomy including planetary science, stellar science, space exploration, Earth sciences, meteorology, seismology, veterinary medicine, pharmacology & toxicology etc.

Miami Beach is a town in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 33,748 at the 2010 census. The beach town is located on the southern tip of Biscayne Bay and shares borders with Miami to the north and west. In addition to its long white sand beaches, Miami Beach also has a rich history dating back to 1887 when Spanish landowner Manuel de la Vega purchased 5 acres (2 km²) of what is now Miami Beach from American investor James K. Polk for $10,000. La Vega named it "Boracay" after Boracay Island in the Philippines and opened up a small shop in what is now downtownMiami Beach to sell goods he imported from that area. In 1927, developers organized by Henry Flagler donated 4 blocks of land at Vedder Avenue and Collins Street for use as a commercial district called "TheBeach". The first building on Vedder Avenue was leased from banker Harry Wertheimer who built it into an office complex called the Wertheimer Building which became known as the "World's Palmieri".[1] By 1928, Flagler had developed much of what is now downtownMiami Beach into an upscale residential area with over 100 stores,[2] including Tiffany & Co., J. P. Morgan & Co., Sears Roebuck & Company and several Tiffany factories existing along Collins Street between Dadeland Boulevard and Northwest First Street.[3] On November 12th 1928 amendment #5 to the city charter created Miami Beach's first city government consisting of a Mayor (George Aiken), City Council (25 members) and five Water Commissioners who were responsible for all aspects pertaining to water management within Miami Beach limits; this reorganization followed annexation of part of Brickell by Miami in 1926[4],[5]. After World War II ended on September 2nd 1945,[6], merchants in downtownMiami Beach started again selling supplies such as gasoline oil, tires, radios/television sets etc.; some people refer to this time period as "the post-war boom".[7] Businesses picked up again during 1951 when construction began on Marlins Hotel(now One America Trade Center), which would become one of South Florida’s most iconic tourist destinations[8][9]. Construction continued until 1957 when Hurricane Wilma destroyed many businesses along Collins Street between Dadeland Boulevard and Northwest First Street; however some reconstruction took place during 1958-1959 including installation of new streetlights.[10],[11] After Wilma passed away on October 8th 1959,[12], business owners resumed their normal activities; however construction stopped completely due to lack of funds two years later during 1960s budget austerity measures led by Mayor Art Rooney[13]. This halt To development cost $350 million dollars over 10 years which has left muchof DowntownMiami Beach undeveloped since then save for a few select high profile projects such as One America Trade Center or renovation work at Key West Lighthouse [14]. With plans currently underway For redevelopment Of DowntownMiami Beach under new leadership including mayor Carlos Gimenez And Vice Mayor David Beckham It looks like we may see another rebirth activity soon!
In 1885, the Miami Beach Company was organized by James Fenton to develop and operate a beachfront resort in what is now Miami Beach. The company built a hotel, a wharf, and other infrastructure. In 1886, the company leased land from the Miami Central Railroad for $1 per year. The first hotel guests arrived in October of that year. By 1888, the company had developed an additional 1 mile (1.6 km) of beach front property north of Biscayne Bay and began selling tickets for private yachts to visit the beach colony at Biscayne Bay. In 1889, Fenton's brother-in-law Edward D mathematical artist named his new art gallery on NW First Avenue "Doris Guggenheim Museum". On November 6th 1890 a group of investors purchased Fenton's interest in the Miami Beach Company from him for $75,000 On December 5th 1890, Congress passed an act authorizing President Benjamin Harrison to provide financial assistance to promote American industry abroad through loans to countries such as Spain and Cuba On January 10th 1891 Dora Guggenheim leased land east of Biscayne Bay for $5 per month with an option for renewal The first exhibition at her new gallery featured paintings by Pablo Picasso In 1893–1894 gas lamps were installed along Flagler Drive which made it possible to see night life without exposed bulbs
