Miami Beach has a long and proud history of possessing firearms. In fact, guns have been present in the city since at least 1892. Miami Beach was one of the first municipalities to pass a gun ordinance, which regulated the possession, use and sale of handguns by citizens. The ordinance also made it illegal for anyone under 21 years old to possess a handgun without a parent or guardian’s permission. In 1933, Miami Beach passed its second gun ordinance, which overturned the first law and allowed people over 21 years old to purchase handguns without parental consent. The 1934 law also established an intoxicated driving exemption for individuals who were purchasing handguns on account of their position as a police officer or member of the military. In 1938, Miami Beach passed its third gun ordinance, which banned all rifle and shotgun sales except to licensed dealers. This law was repealed in 1942 due to World War II restrictions on firearm ownership. In 1950, Miami Beach passed its fourth gun ordinance, which introduced assault rifles into the city limits. This law was repealed in 1951 due to protests from local Gun Owners’ Clubs (GOC). In 1957, Miami Beach passed its fifth gun ordinance, which restricted magazine capacity to 10 rounds per pistol instead of 15 rounds per weapon like other municipalities in Florida at that time. This law was repealed due to public outcry in 1958 after three shootings within days at two different businesses near Bayshore Boulevard and Collins Avenue that left four people dead and thirteen injured.[1] In 1959-1960 there were several more shootings across town involving civilians with handguns that led state legislators to investigate how easy it would be for someone with minor technical knowledge – such as having multiple magazines -to make significant changes to existing ordinances governing firearms without prior notification or vote by City Council members

The vast majority of handguns sold in the United States are striker-fired pistols. The striker-fired pistol firing a round from the barrel is considered an assault weapon because it has a firing pin that striking the primer of the cartridge will cause it to detonate and fire, causing damage or death to the target. There are two types of firearms that fire rounds from barrels other than those used in handguns: rocket launchers and grenade launchers. A launcher fires rounds out of a barrel that is not inserted into the firearm itself, but instead hangs off one side of the gun like a yo-yo; when squeezed, this launches the round into flight. They consist of an electronic system with either green or red light output and can be attached to any vehicle for Night Patrol use.

In response to rapid development in Overtown and DowntownMiami since World War II – including new housing developments such as MidtownSouthwest and Wynwood – local business owners lobbied for zoning changes that would provide more space for them while limiting redevelopment by existing businesses or newcomers.Zoning Maps: 1961-2013 This effort was successful enough that during Mayor Manuel López Obrador’s administration (2006-2010) zoning changes were made allowing large commercial buildings up to 400 feet tall without any setbacks – thus reversing decades of policy which limited heights to less than 250 feet (76 m). As a result developers set up shop in neighborhoods like Overtown and Wynwood where original businesses closed down or relocated due to competition from newer restaurants or stores. Despite this progressivism– often buttressed by donations from real estate mogul Jeff Greene – many aspects of downtown remain struggling.
