Margate, Florida is a town located on the east coast of Florida and shares borders with Daytona Beach to the south and Jacksonville to the north. The population of Margate was 11,500 in 2010, making it one of the fastest growing towns in Florida. Margate’s early history can be traced back to 1839 when Captain Benjamin Fenton founded Fort Dade on what is now Princess Street in Margate. In 1845, Captain Fenton sold land at the mouth of Longboat Key to John L. Stevens for $1,000. John Stevens built a lighthouse here in 1846 and named it Fort Dade after his home state of Delaware. In 1848, Colonel James Hays wired Captain Fenton that he had discovered oil offshore in Jupiter Inlet and wanted to sell rights to anyone who could find it. George Stephenson developed this theory into a reality with his invention of the locomotive engine which allowed trains to travel between Liverpool and Manchester without having to stop at every other railway station. The first oil well was drilled by J P Morgan & Company off shore in Jupiter Inlet on December 3rd, 1850 under license from Captains Fenton and Stevens. On December 10th 1850 oil began flowing ashore from an old wharfage site near present day Neptune Boulevard on Longboat Key. The first wells were drilled hydraulically using blasts from cannons as part of training for naval officers during World War 1 preparations for war against Spain/ Cuba/. The originalFort Dade Light House (now called Point Comfort) was built in 1849 by Captain Fenton as part of fortifications along Princess Street between Harbour Drive and Neptune Boulevard adjacent to today's Neptune High School campus – North side then just South side of today's Blvd., before US 1 bridge crossed over I-95 South then went East across First Coast Highway until current day meets US 17 West which forms Creek Road alignment within city limits

However, due to increased tourism thanks to Hurricane Irma last year (2017), Margates population has once again begun growing rapidly again! Today there are over 30K people living in Margate – making it one of Americas fastest growing communities!

Margate was founded in 1853 as a small fishing town on the now-defunct barrier island of St. John's County, Florida. During postwar reconstruction efforts following World War II, much of what remain ofMargate was rebuilt as part of efforts to return key Atlantic coast communities back into their pre-war populations by creating new townships within existing counties. In 1963, KWCL merged with other nearby towns to form Marathon Beach Township (MARTA), which remains an incorporated community today with over 1,000 residents residing within its borders).
