Margate, Florida is a small town located in Hillsborough County, Florida. According to the 2010 census, the population of Margate was 4,827. The community is known for its white sand beaches and crystal clear waters. The economy of Margate relies on tourism and has seen growth in the area over the years. The earliest evidence of human activity in Margate comes from Pottersville Hundred located about north of present-day Margate along the now part of Interstate 75. A prehistoric site dating back to 9500 BC has been discovered at Cedar Key Village which lies immediately east of today's Margate on County Road E3 (now US 1). In 1795, Captain John Stroud sailed his brig "Pompadour" into Sarasota bay and anchored near what is now known as Limekiln Point while he explored the Gulf Coast region. He noted that there were three points on Tampa bay where fresh water could be found; one was at Clearwater Point south of Tampa Bay, another was at Siesta Key west of Tampa Bay and still another was at Fort Myers east of Tampa Bay. After exploring these points he made reports back to London which are preserved among various British Admiralty papers now housed in the National Archives in Ottawa Canada. In 1818 Pensacola ships under Commodore James Cook chartered HMS Beagle2 to explore South America and their discovered Brazil landmass including Cape Horn specifically looking for a passage through that country to India by way of sea then on to Java through Borneo before sailing home via Australia! Cook's voyage ended with his shipwreck off Cape Horn when his men ran out food but no survivors were found! In 1819 Captain William Brown chartered HMS Terror4 to explore possessions claimed by Spainnorthwest coast from Cuba down to PensacolaBayouanna Passageway past Mobile City thence up Gulf Coastto Spanishmanlandtowards Saba Islandand finally Trinidad!!!!!! This well documented exploration gave rise also because during this time Spain had leased various lands along gulf coast from England!!! After rounding Cape York Peninsula they made landfall on January 8thoff modern day PensacolaBayoujust northeastofolling tide current!! Nowhere did they findfresh water so they named it Buena Vista creek after their flagship ship !! What an eventful few months it must have been for those aboard HMS Terror including Brown who became famous worldwide!!! Many more suchventures followed during this period making landfall hereabouts often resultingin discoveries dozen miles or more offshore not only unheardof then but also very costly!!!!! Today we enjoyCaptain Cooks legacy with our own USS Pompadour Museum which relocated from Green Cove Springs FL just outside Margate last year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Margate, Florida is a small city located on the Gulf Coast of Florida. The City was founded in 1887 by English settlers and has been gradually expanding since then. Margate has a rich history that can be traced back to its earliest days. In 1887, British colonists arrived in what is now Margate,Florida. At the time, the area was part of Spanish territory and lacked any organized government or infrastructure. The settlers were motivated by their desire to escape religious and racial discrimination experienced in their home country. The first inhabitants of Margate were two families who had come overland from Liverpool, England. The men built a rudimentary house and store on the beach while the women erected a small lighthouse to warn shipping against becoming lost in the dark waters of the gulf. Over time, other pioneers joined these initial settlers and soon there were three restaurants, four churches, seven schools, six stores and several homes along Governor Nicholls Boulevard. Borders began to form as people started living side-by-side with no contact allowed between races or cultures until after World War II when many residents decided they wanted better relations with America's new Nation during this "Golden Age" of travel for all across America! It wasn't until Hurricane Andrew destroyed much of Margate's infrastructure that locals & tourists alike got an idea about how beautiful this place really was! In fact so many people just looked away not recognizing it for what it truly was; A once thriving fishing community which now sits abandoned & forgotten amidst acres of sand (just like so many others). But don't forget…..the seafood still tastes great here!
Margate is located in the state of Florida. It was founded by humans and a small animal people in 1824. The area now known as Margate was first inhabited by the Timucua, an affiliation with which the town would maintain until 1898. In 1836, Captain John Saucier of the brigantine USS Constitution anchored off the coast of Margate to trade goods with local Native Americans when he noticed what he thought were beautiful white sand beaches. In 1839, Captain James Cook discovered Fort George on Santa Rosa Island in St. Augustine Bay while sailing through what is now Florida and brought news of this new land to America's first president, James K. Polk who ordered exploration of the west coast. American traders soon established themselves at Margate beach for fresh water and codfish from Mexico City; sugar cane from Completebay plantation near Pensacola; saltpeter from Roquefort plantations on Old Tampa Bay; and lumber from Sawmill Point on Jupiter Island in Lake Okeechobee. By 1850, over $1 million had been invested in fishing, farming and development at Margate beach alone. The town quickly became a popular tourist destination for both locals and visitors alike due to its stunning geography, lovely beaches (especially those located along Batchelor Creek), friendly people, and lively nightlife scene - all without any major infrastructure developments or streetcars! The townsfolk went about their lives without much notice until 1892 when construction began on what became known as "The Margate Pier". This addition significantly increased traffic congestion on Batchelor Creek which gradually worsened over time leading to bridge failures that killed several innocent bystanders each year beginning in 1901 before finally being closed down permanently in 1931 after years of abuse by developers! This tragic event has served as a metaphor for many things over the years such as how communities can become trapped within their own limitations becoming unable or unwilling to overcome obstacles - something that sadly still occurs today throughout many parts of our country!
