On Monday, March 14, 2019 at 10:48 a.m., the Florida Department of Law Enforcement received a report of a shooting on Maitland Boulevard. Upon arrival, they discovered that two people had been shot and were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The case is still under investigation.

Maitland is located in Duval County, Florida. The town was founded in 1821 by Colonel John Maitland and his wife, Anna. The name of the town was changed to Maitland in 1876 after it became a county seat. The first post office opened in Maitland on October 6, 1821. In 1861, the county seat moved from Maitland to Jacksonville.
