Lynn Haven is a small town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,451 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in Lynn Haven was John Stowe who arrived around 1819. He and his family built a cabin on the banks of the Kissimmee River. The Stowes were followed by other early settlers including James Fenimore Cooper and his brother-in-law Ebenezer Howard. In 1832, John Morse moved to Lynn Haven from Mobile and began trading with Native Americans in what is now Key West. In 1835, Captain George Stephenson discovered oil shale near Lynn Haven and determined it would be an ideal site for a oil refinery because of its proximity to navigable waterways and its abundance of natural gas reserves. The first crude oil production started in earnest in nearby Marathon Oil Refinery when drilling began on October 24, 1935, by Will Rogers & Company with permits from the US Coast Guard under General Order No. 2 (GO No 2). By 1942, output had reached 4 million barrels per day (mb/d) which helped create Lyn Haven's nickname "theSaudiRefineryTown". With World War II raging across Europe, most of America's heavy industry shifted inland to support war efforts; however gasoline production continued unabated at Lynn Haven until 1945 when wartime restrictions put an end to it. Since then business has been nearly stagnant except for some minor expansions due to new technology or annexation by neighboring towns such as Sanford or Kissimmee City which have all grown faster than Lynn Haven since 2000s annexation rates are typically lower than 50%. The following year saw yet another growth spurt as property values soared after plans were announced for a mixed use project known as Harbor Point which would include office buildings development as well as housing for workers on one side while commercial businesses would occupy the rest on the other side connecting directly into Interstate 95/I-4 via two expressways that cross through downtown – eventually becoming known as "Florida's Pier District". This mixed use project became reality later that year when Harbor Point Partners LLC completed their acquisition of land adjacent to Turnpike Plaza Shopping Center from Bayfront Business Park Management LP - making Lynnhaven home once again to one of Florida's premier shopping districts complete with anchors such as Macy's Inc., Sears Holdings Corporation and JBL Radio Networks division Limited Partnership among others! Today everything accessible within walking distance without leaving town limits can be found thanks largely to three big developers – Harbor Point Partners LLC (Pier District), Wieden + Kennedy LLP (Office Building Phase I) and PNC Financial Services Group (Housing Phase III)—all working together towards creating what will soon become one Of Miami’s Most Prominent Development Regions!

By 1920, there were over 100 businesses in Lynn Haven and it had become one of the most prosperous towns in Florida. However, World War II brought economic hard times to Lynn Haven which led to a decline in population from the late 1940s until well into the 1950s. However, recent growth in industry has helped resurgence Lynhaven's economy since 1985. Today,Lynn Haven is a vibrant community with an active cultural life; it is also known for its superior school districts and excellent infrastructure which allows for easy access to education and commerce alike
