The original airport was built on what is now the town square and it served as a landing and takeoff ground for both military and civilian flights. In 1990, the airport underwent renovations which included new terminal buildings, an expanded baggage claim area, and a new runway that allowed for more passenger traffic. Today, Lynn Haven Airport is one of the busiest airports in Florida with over 20 million passengers annually. The history of Lynn Haven goes back to when settlers first arrived in this area. The town was named after Captain John Alyn who led an expedition from Spanish Cuba into what is now Florida in 1799. Alyn's group established a trading post at what is now called River Road near present-day Lynn Haven. This location would become one of the most important points of trade for the community until it attained its current form about 1800. One of the earliest businesses to open up in downtown Lynn Haven was The Grapes Store which operated from 1802-1810. This store was situated on present day Second Street between High Street and South Park Drive. During this time, slaves were bought and sold at this location including those who worked on plantations near Jacksonville during the 1840s and 1850s. An interesting fact about The Grapes Store is that it still remains standing today! It was completely destroyed by fire however, but fortunately no lives were lost as a result! A major event which took place in downtown Lynn Haven during this time was King George's Jubilee celebration which took place on September 3rd, 1808. This event marked Frederick Douglass' freedom from slavery and his arrival into society due to his public speaking tours throughout America prior to his imprisonment at Fensham House near Philadelphia during 1849-1851%. In 1892, Mayor Worthy donated land adjacent to Second Street for use as an airstrip for local aircraft owners or pilots called "Lynnhaven Field". This airstrip would serve as home base for various types of aviation activities such as flying clinics for children or teaching schoolchildren about aviation through model airplanes until 1949 when it closed down due to budgetary constraints within city government). After World War II ended hostilities ceased across much of Europe so business produced slowed down gradually here too especially because there weren't any wartime jobs available here like there were elsewhere In North America After 1945 etc... Lynhaven slowly began rebuilding itself again economy wise but infrastructure wise just wasn't there yet kinda like everywhere else post war jobless feeling started bubbly kinda pickled some people decided let's rebuild old stuff not alot had changed since prewar days so they did kinda blew out water line under bridge pylon next door concrete wall behind bank (long gone now) lotsa memories around here some good some bad but alligators don't do well without water

The first settlers in what is now Lynn Haven were Creek Indians who arrived in 1795. The town was named after a small body of water called the Haven (a name which likely comes from the Welsh word "hav Arian") and was platted in 1852 by J.B. Warfield. The community's first post office opened in 1853 and it remained open until 1914 when it was closed due to lack of mail service. The battle that occurred on July 12th, 1861 between Confederate forces and Union troops near Lynn Haven resulted in over 100 dead and scores wounded including many local citizens. For this event, the town had its own Confederate Cemetery for some time afterwards which still remains today as one of Brevard County's most popular tourist attractions. In 1901,lynhaven became an incorporated municipality with a population of 792 people when it amalgamated with neighbouring towns: Brighton Beach to the east, Indian Harbour Beach to the south-west, Hollywood to the north-east and Port St Lucie to the north-west; all three Towns had been founded as hamlets or villages before annexation into larger municipalities%.
