Over time Simeon's business expanded into providing glasses, contact lens service, dental care (including fillings/implantations), vision testing (including astigmatism removal/treatment), special needs eyeglasses/sunglasses (for children with low vision), handwriting recognition services, ultrasounds/ultrasound machines etc., among others In 1961-62 Simeon merged with rival firm Bausch & Lomb which left him with a large inventory base but no competition so he decided not to open another store after sixty years! However after Bausch & Lomb went out of business He reopened under new management as Simeon Wexler Eye Care Center at 515 3rd Street East which continues today as one of the most popular opticians located hereabouts!

In 2006, longwood annexed nearby Indian Lake and established a park there as well as a water tower that serves as a municipally owned swimming pool and business center; both annexed properties are also used for residential development. Longwood is a town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 5,539 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Lake Buena Vista Metropolitan Statistical Area. In 1837, James Longworth established a post office in the town and named it for himself. From 1840 to 1849, Longwood was under Spanish rule as part of Puerto Rico. In 1849, after the American Civil War ended, Longwood became a U.S. territory and was renamed Longwood Territory in 1861. The first post office opened in Longwood on March 15th of that year (the name has been changed multiple times). In 1865, a hotel called "The White House" was built in what is now downtown Longwood by Johnnie Wright and his brother-in-law Benjamin Fenton Ketchum III. The hotel became known as the "LongWOOD Inn" from 1886 until it burned down in 1911. A new courthouse was completed in 1907 and served as the seat of government for much of southern Polk County before being moved to Kissimmee in 1912 when that county formed its own government. The building still stands today and is used as an office park by local businesses including Wacoal USA which opened its first store inside it on November 3rd 1903 CE
In 1892, Longwood was founded as a small town on the edge of Tampa Bay. The town grew quickly and by 1906 had over 1,000 residents. In 1928, Longwood annexed what is now Hillsborough County and became the county seat.
