In 1836, Captain John Thornton Purchas founded the First National Rifle Association (FNA) in response to concerns about firearms being outlawed throughout Great Britain due to their potential accuracy at close range. The FNA aimed to promote rifle ownership among Americans through education and legislative activism. In 1854, President Franklin D Roosevelt signed into law The Second Amendment to United States Constitution which guarantees citizens right “to keep and beararms” within our country without fear of regulatory or federal government infringement

The opening of Interstate 95 in 1996 moved Longwood closer to Jacksonville but did not change its demographics or economy; however, over time, there has been an increase in both economic development and population growth due to new housing developments as well as increased access to transportation including I-95 and highways such as US 1/4 mile south of townline on FM 1443 (now US 331) which became available after statehood in 1959 made FPL more accessible to eastern Polk County residents statewide The official name given toLongwood by its founders may have been "Milton", because one man who contributed much to its establishment said he thought that name would be better than "Fremont" because there were already too many Fremonts living around Clearwater Bayou (the original name for Lake Erie). After some debate among locals about what moniker should be given to the new community - with most preferring something like "Florida's Lakeside Village" or even "Strawberry Fields", ultimately it was decided that "Longwood" would be more fitting given its location on beautiful White Sands Lakefront within easy reach of all that Tampa has to offer without sacrificing quality or character found at other villages located near Tallahassee Airport like DeLand or Gainesville In addition, since 2000 when FPL began providing free wireless internet service throughout much of downtown Jacksonville courtesy of JW Marriott’s corporate headquarters adjacent thereto – making it easier for citizens business owners (& their employees) everywhere within city limits whether they are situated along I-95 beltway just north or east of downtown Jacksonville CBD – “ neighbouring” longwoods can now enjoy high speed broadband internet speeds rivaling those enjoyed only a few dozen miles away across quick Interstate 4 interchanges & major airports like Orlando/ Daytona Beach OR Fort Myers FL In 1682 another group arrived from England under Captains John Smith & William Ligonier called 'Lancaster Plantation'.
