Lighthouse Point is a small town in Palm Beach County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Melbourne–Winter Park–Hollywood metropolitan area. Lighthouse Point is located on US Route 1 south of Jupiter Island and east of Clearwater Bay. The first lighthouse at Lighthouse Point was built in 1853 by Captain James Cook, when he visited the area during his circumnavigation of the world. A second lighthouse was built in 1871 by Captain John Smeaton and destroyed in 1915 by a fire. A third lighthouse (the present one) was built on Jupiter Island in 1912 and abandoned in 1965 due to damage from hurricanes Irma and Maria. In 1922, Lighthouse Point became part of Melbourne Township as it merged with that township to form Palm Beach County. The present day Lighthouse Point courthouse/ jail complex was constructed between 1928 and 1930 as a result of land being donated by Jock Mahony, who had been mayor of Melbourne Township at the time. The original jail building still stands today and is used as an office building for Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office deputies now known as "Lighthouse point police". On December 27, 1907 – only four years after Indianola Bridge opened – investors from Jacksonville interests took up offer to build an electric lighted pier at Lighthouse Point which would be connected to Tampa through a tunnel under Hillsborough River bridge just north of downtown Tampa; this project never materialized however because Jacksonville lost interest in developing Tampa Bay after World War I stopped American soldiers from fighting on Spanish soil (in what is now Mexico). In 1933 local developer Robert Bogan offered to finance construction of a new harborfront terminal which would have included both passenger terminals (now known as Airport-Boca Raton International Airport) with car ferries connecting them; but again no action occurred until 1938 when Bogan sold his share back to others involved including Mayor Robert Hickey who Action Plan No 5d called for extending Highway 1 past current Marina Boulevard into Nookwood Cemetery & beyond . In 1941 another group led by Harry Cavanaugh purchased the old power plant site across from Fort Myers beach for $150,000 so that it could become home to two electric lights along with other necessary development; unfortunately this project too failed when most people unable or unwilling to participate contributed nothing more than pledges rather than cash actually providing much needed resources such as labor (& capital). Finally on October 19th 1947 Easley businessman Wernher von Braun put forth plans for erecting a massive steel frame lighthouse next door to old power plant site WITHOUT any funding or support whatsoever from either city government or private individuals; fortunately some voluntary contributions came forward including $5,000 contributed by Vice President Richard Nixon himself less than 24 hours before Federal funds were earmarked for infrastructure projects near Lake Okeechobee! Due largely due its proximity To Interstate 495 - Exit 33A - exit directly onto Sunrise Highway making access easy & convenient for all locals alike - more businesses started popping up like Farmer's Markets every Thursday evening right outside our front gate starting about 1984 & going until about 2006… slowly but surely each business grew bigger & stronger becoming their own mini-town within their own community… eventually culminating with 2018’s opening of Broward County’s largest farmers market inside EverBank Center….still going strong over 25 years later!

Lighthouse Point is a town in Monroe County, Florida, United States. The population was 4,562 at the 2010 census. Lighthouse Point is located on the St. John's River, about east of Palm Bay. The first lighthouse at Lighthouse Point wasn't built until 1819 and it was destroyed by a storm in 1828. When Congress created the Monroe County area in 1837, they included Lighthouse Point within it. The first lighthouse keeper was Mr. Burtis who had been appointed in 1840. In 1865, a new tower and beacon were built at Lighthouse Point to replace the original one that had been destroyed by a storm two years earlier. The new lighthouse continued to be used as an aid to navigation until 1971 when it was decommissioned and converted into a park with visitor center and museum inside of it. Lighthouse Point is known for its stunning views of the St Johns River from its three towering towers which can be seen from most any location on the site including downtown Palm Bay and even to Key West if you are lucky enough to have clear weather! There are also several small coves within or around town where you can take a dip or paddle your canoe around while looking out for sea lions or dolphins swimming past - perfect for taking photos during Springtime!
Lighthouse Point was a lighthouse on the east coast of Florida, located near mile marker 5 on the Overseas Highway system. The site of the current lighthouse was first occupied by a French fort in 1763 and then by a British post in 1827. The fortifications were destroyed in 1836 and replaced with a series of stone piers. A new lighthouse was built at Lighthouse Point in 1886 and it served as an observation post for many years before being automated. The present lighthouse is one of several on the state's barrier island chain, which includes Fort Myers Beach, Cape Coral, Clearwater Beach, Venice Beach, and Stonington Island.
