During World War II (1939-1945), bullets were introduced into combat as firearms began being needed for strategic purposes such as attacking targets high up in the sky or within close range. It was not until 1950 that bullets became widely available on both civilian and military markets worldwide thanks to advances in technology such as metallurgy and engineering

Lighthouse Point is located in Polk County, Florida, on the Gulf of Mexico. The point is a natural coral headland that forms the eastern end of Lopez Island. The headland was first sighted by Europeans in 1513 when they sailed along the coast of present-day Florida looking for a landfall spot for their ships. Spanish sailors also sighted Lopez Island in 1693 during their exploration of what is now Mobile Bay. A lighthouse was built at Lighthouse Point in 1854, and it remained operational until 1951. In 1978, a new lighthouse was built at Lighthouse Point to replaced the original structure which had been destroyed by an earthquake in 1973. The new lighthouse has a tower with an observation deck that offers a clear view of the Gulf of Mexico and Lopez Island. Lopez Island is one of several US territories claimed by Spain as part of la Isla de Cuba (the island of Cuba). On September 12, 1898, after Spain's victory over US forces at Battle Of Santiago de Cuba, control over this territory passed from Spain to the United States as part of Treaty Of Paris following World War I. In 1927, Congress passed legislation creating Lighthouse Point National Monument which included Lopez Island within its boundaries. Since then, much effort has been made to preserve and manage this important resource for future generations; such as developing plans fordeveloping tourism on Lopez Island.
