In 1881, Jno Tompkins started trading as L&L Trading Post which lasted until 1906 when it merged into Southeastern Tobacco Company which then became JT Enterprises Incorporated In 1933, JT Enterprises Incorporated changed its name to GTE Telecommunications Corporation In 1948, GTE Telecommunications Corporation changed its name to Gulf Food Services Corporation In 1976, Gulf Food Services Corporation changed its name to Gulf Broadcasting Corporation Gulf Broadcasting Corporation changed its name to GBC Communications Incorporated on October 1st 1982
