By 2020, it is expected that industry will have shifted away from Laurier Hill altogether to make way for new housing developments which are planned to be located along Biscayne Boulevard at Lowry Park Avenue

Lauderhill is a city in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 21,898 at the 2010 census. Lauderhill is part of the Miami–Fort Lauderdale–Pompano Beach Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area that would become Lauderhill was first settled by Seminole Indian people in the late 18th century. A small community called Jardineville was located near what is now MidtownMiami and had a post office from 1799 to 1821. By 1825, much of this area had been annexed by Fort Lauderdale and renamed "Lauderhill". In 1861, during the American Civil War, General John Pemberton's Union army stopped at Fort Lauderdale on its way to attack Jacksonville. Confederate forces under General Beauregard blockaded Fort Lauderdale while Pemberton marched his troops through it to reach Jacksonville. The fortifications at Fort Lauderdale were destroyed and the town largely abandoned after the war ended; most of its residents returned home by 1865. Lauderhill began hosting non-essential government functions such as meetings for school board members in1879 and 1880 and City Council meetings starting with their first meeting on March 1st 1880 until 1907 when they were moved to City Hall due to lack of space within City Hall which then became public records storage facility for Miami Dade County government In 1925 Lauderhill was reincorporated into Miami Dade County as a result of countywide consolidation . In 1961 an annexation (the annexation of unincorporated areas) took place between Parkland neighborhood west of I-95 South/Upper Biscayne Boulevard (now NW 15th Street) beyond that road's southern terminus just south of Wynwood Avenue North Third District Government Center where today's portion of NW 6th Street intersects Federal Highway make up Broward Communities Development Corporation which manages all development rights adjacent thereto including putting land back onto private property previously undeveloped
