In 1948, Jiggs merged with American Tobacco Company to form Altria Inc., which became Marlboro cigarettes company in 1971 when Philip Morris bought out Altria’s shareholding. In 1974, Rothmans purchase of American Tobacco made them one of cigarette manufacturers worldwide as well as controlling 68% of all tobacco production outside North America; this gave them veto power over any moves by state legislatures to ban smoking indoors or limit smoking within public buildings such as schools and hospitals

The town originated on the former site of an orange grove known as "The Oranges" and later became known for its large concentration of tanning beds and other leather production businesses. In 1932, Lauderhill merged with neighbouring unincorporated communities of Cutler and Kendall to form a new municipality called "Lauderhill-Cutler". On November 5, 1990, it reverted to its original name: Lauderhill. The first white person to live in Lauderhill was John Fitzpatrick who arrived there with his family in 1894. He built a home on what is now East Beach Drive. Fitzpatrick's son — also named John Fitzpatrick — would become one of Miami's earliest mayors and serve from 1955 until 1977 under various terms including two terms as City Manager before he was elected Mayor himself after being appointed by then-Mayor Carlos Gimenez. In 1912, Anna Jarvis moved from her native Ireland to start a tannery business in Lauderdale Lakes which became L'Ange Tannin & Leather Works before moving to Sunrise Boulevard in 1925 where she continued operations until her death in 1943; her husband Jocko started their company shortly afterwards when he bought out Anna Jarvis' shareholding rights leaving Sunrise Boulevard without any tanneries between it and Brickell Avenue (now Collins Avenue). From 1949 until 1971 Harry Pritchard ran ATCO Tannery which produced some world renowned leather products including Gianni Versace'satches As late as 1982 Anthony Fenton still managed Fenton Tannery which produces sport coats for American Apparel/Zara stores across South America In 1984 Fidel Castro visited Lourdes Catholic Church hands down one of the most famous tourist attractions around here so that can be counted among our many successes during this time period! After all these years we are finally able to open our own store back up again!
