Lauderhill, Florida is a town located in Polk County, Florida. The population was 12,471 at the 2010 Census. It is part of the Orlando metropolitan area. Lauderhill was founded on November 3, 1868 by George Lauder and his wife Agnes (née Norris). It was named for Sir James Lauder of Llangollen who helped organize what would become the British Empire in 1837. The first post office in Lauderhill was established in 1870 and it operated until 1886. In 1904, the community formed a city government with a mayor and six council members. The city incorporated as a municipality on January 1, 1909. On December 5, 1915, the City Council voted to change its name to Lauderdale after American businessman and stockbroker James A. Lauderdale Sr.. On July 14, 1924–the last day of World War I–Lauderhill became one of America's "Allied Cities" when it joined the United States Federal District Court system as part of an effort to speed up military trials through centralization of federal court functions. In 1951–52 Lauderdale lost its status as an "Allied City" when it joined Gainesville in being removed from that district due to budget cuts by then-President Harry Truman following the Korean War

Lauderhill is a city in Broward County, Florida, United States. The population was 41,468 at the 2010 census. Lauderhill is one of two cities in Broward County, the other being Fort Lauderdale. It is bordered by Weston to the south and east, Plantation to the north and west, and Boca Raton to the northwest. The first humans in what is now Lauderhill were Native American Apalachee Indians who hunted game near present-day downtown Lauderhill on land that was also used for agriculture. In 1802 Spanish Conquistador José de Urquiza discovered new Florida including what are now Broward and Palm Beach counties while exploring South America through exploration party led by Lt.-Colonel Juan Ponce de León. On July 4th of that year Urquiza named this part of Florida "Lauderhill" after his hometown of La Junta del Lago in Burgos Province, Spain. In 1892 John Husted founded Husted Farms which became one of the largest citrus growers in Florida with orchards stretching from Fort Lauderdale northeast to Longwood on Lake Worth Boulevard/Upper Darcy Road. In 1911 Wm. Fenton bought Husted's interest in the company and began production of orange juice concentrate here which he marketed under the name "Fenton's". By 1918 it had become one of Florida's leading agricultural producers with mills located throughout Broward County producing flour (later sugar), milk (later cheese), eggs, butter, coffee beans and more. For years most fruits grown here were trucked into Miami for processing into prunes or applesauce but starting in 1984 some farmers started growing crops such as grapefruit; cranberry jelly; figs; watermelon; raspberries; strawberries etc., on large fields within town limits making this a mixed fruit county today with an emphasis on citrus production as well as corn production for ethanol feedstock During World War II over 100 local men served with distinction Drewry Air Force Base - Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Division - Coopersmith Instrument Works - Northrop Aircraft Corporation - Consolidated Radiomanufacturing Company where they produced parts for bombers like Boeing 707s German Type XXVIII fighters Udetricht 2A5 jet engines Messerschmitt Me 262 jet aircraft V-2 rocket launchers USAAF Browning Automatic Rifle Teams these men operated behind enemy lines during World War II making use of airfields located adjacent to their base providing cover from hostile forces . Many residents although not directly involved would go on to careers within Defense Industry including many that rose to positions inside Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Division where Don Armstrong currently leads research efforts In 1957 Dracken family purchased majority interest in Husted Farms company voting continued until sale finaly went through November 27th 1957 To Mr./Mrs James Mcknight Metropole Sugar Refiners Incorporated who ran business since 1916 then renamed Republic Snacks Factory manufacturing candy bars/snacks nationally distributed primarily Unsalted Caramel no matter size packaged whole or broken Inside each bar was a piece extending from toporablegmna back into wrapper originally made outta wax paper but difficultly getting between wrappers due to small pieces left over After about 10 years operation Republic changed its name back to Metropole Sugar Refiners Incorporated still manufacturing candy bars/snacks commencing January 1st 1960 using equipment owned by Republic Snacks Factory up until its sale finaly taking place February 14th 1961 To The Roberts family At 1111 E Washington Ave becoming known as The Roberts Candy Company
