It was during this time that gun enthusiasts began marketing their merchandise through local businesses such as KMart, JCPenny’s, Sears Roebuck & Co., and even gas stations across town! In 1978, when the National Rifle Association (NRA) affiliations were first made public within Broward County politics, gun owners took to social media sites like Twitter and Facebook to share photos of their favorite NRA members wearing shirt emblazoned with “Broward County – home of the free market!” Today there are nearly 2 dozenGunShops located throughout Broward County that sell NRA apparel including T-Shirts, Hats, Sammags, Keychains and more! They quickly realized that they needed something to protect themselves while hunting shotguns in the area. They came up with the idea of printing shirts with illustrations of shotguns. The first guns shirt was printed in 1923 and became very popular. over time, other firearm related designs were created including pistols and rifles. By the late 1940s, firearms had become an integral part of Floridian culture and t-shirt sales grew rapidly as people started to connect Firearms with their personal security (and patriotism).
Lauderhill is a town in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 12,890 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami metropolitan area and the Greater Miami Area. Lauderhill is located on State Road 2 between I-95 and US 27. The town was founded by John Lauder (1879-1964) who purchased 200 acres of land in what is now Lauderhill from Captain James Cook for $1,000 in 1902. Lauderhill became an incorporated municipality on November 3, 1907. In 1927, Mayor Harry Pappagee persuaded the Lauderdale County Commissioners to annex parts of neighboring Weston so that Lauderhill would have a larger neighbor. When it merged with Weston on January 1, 1961, it became one municipality with a population of 21,621 residents. Lauderhill's economy has been based largely on agriculture since its founding and still today there are many workers in agriculture Fields include: corn; soybeans; cotton; peanuts; rice; potatoes; beans etc.). There are also service businesses including: convenience stores/grocery stores such as Kroger; banks including First American Bank & Trust Company and Wells Fargo Bank;; restaurants such as Red Lobster and Ruby Tuesday ; health care services companies such as Aventis Health Care Inc., Baptist Healthcare System and Humana ); small manufacturers such as Henschel Corporation which manufactures building materials among others). The post office closed operations Effective October 31st due to budget cuts however mail remains delivered through USPS electronic channels

Lauderhill was founded on November 1, 1892 by J. L. Lauder and Wm. H. Crouch as a small community on what is now State Road 527 near Walt Disney World. Lauderhill was named for James Lauder (1763-1834), one of the first land developers in Florida, who also donated 400 acres (16 ha) to the town site on which it stands today The original settlers were German immigrants who made their home hereabouts from Alchenbach am Rhein in Germany Township in Monroe County, Illinois Territory before US annexation there in 1815 After the Seminole Wars ended with Spain's victory over Seminoles in 1835 and Indian eradication began throughout most of North America, large numbers of Germans settled south of Miami and east of Tampa Bay during this time frame too In 1840 Jules Fenton surveyed a location along present day SR 527 for what would become Lauderhill – his brother John Fenton having purchased 640 acres (26 ha) just north of modern-day downtown Lauderdale after helping to plat its foundation block Fenton appointed George Stephenson as surveyor general for Northwest Florida Territory when that territory was created from parts of Polk and Osceola counties following Mexican War boundaries changes two years later A year later he laid out lots adjoining those granted to him herein including that now forming downtown Lauderdale –RD 601 & RD 602 being especially noted for their fine architecture with many notable examples still extant today including: Founder’s House #527 & 600 Adams Avenue NW –one known as “The White House”still standing since 1928/9 when it became owneried by Hillsborough County government; First Presbyterian Church built thereon March 9th 1850 @ 301 E SR 527 at corner where Knoppers Avenue meets present day Federal Boulevard; Second Presbyterian Church built thereon December 15th 1865 @ 301 E SR 527 near intersection now occupied by Gulfstream Park golf course & Marriott Resort hotel [now run by Starwood Preferred Guest]; Central School building erected thereon February 2nd 1889 @ 301 E SR 527 northwest corner current site of Rollins College; Driscoll’s grocery store opened thereon October 10th 1895 @ 501 WNW Third Street…the first commercial structure ever located within city limits west of Miami Beach prior to incorporation into Broward County ; Stroud Nursery established hereon January 3rd 1899 @ 401 N Fourth Street SW adjacent to Central School building Improved Carpet Mills founded hereon November 12th 1902 while proprietorship rested with Mrs Bessie Murchison [later Mrs Ernest Stroud] until 1905 when company name changed to Lauderhill Manufacturing Company Incorporated under law number 20525 which provided for management organization similar thereto existing among other manufactures within city limitswest cf Miami Beach ; Total area now constituting 67 sq mi [approximately 282 hectares or 719 acres] comprising: Downtown Lauderdale: wards 1&2 - 47% ; West Palm Beach: wards 3&4 - 32% ; Plantation District : wards 5&6 - 20%

The community rapidly grew and soon developed into a major center for transportation, commerce, and industry. In 1907, Lauderhill became the first city in Miami-Dade County to be formally annexation by the county. It experienced rapid growth during World War II as an important munitions manufacturing and shipbuilding center; however, most of its activity ceased after 1945. Today, Lauderhill remains a vibrant community with many exciting activities going on each day.
