Lauderhill, Florida is a city of over 50,000 people located in Broward County on the southern coast of South Florida. It is the county seat and has a population of over 195,000. The city was founded in 1887 by J.M. Garland and named for George Lauder, an early settler who came to Broward County in 1845. In 1916, it was renamed for General James Mclntyre Grant because he had been assigned to lead American forces into World War I. The first ammunition factory in Lauderhill was built in 1912 by Edward Sauer and Jens Hansen with help from Ludwig von Mises and other Austrian munitions experts. In 1933, the company merged with Winchester Ammunition Company to become Winchester-Winchester Ammunition Corporation (later Wacoal). The plant produced artillery shells, sniper rounds and hand grenades until its closure in 1984 due to economic recession. Today there are only several fragments of history left from this once dominant ammunition industry here in Lauderhill – one being a 1919 nickel-plated .30 caliber rifle bullet that still hangs on display at the old Wacoal Ammunition Corporation building on Northwest Fourth Street NW near downtown Lauderhill. Lauderhill’s long history as an important center for ammunition production can be traced back to 1887 when J.M. Garland founded the city’s first ammunition factory after coming across land bought from Spanish settlers south of Fort Lauderdale by Garland himself and his brother John Hargrave Stanton Garland Jr.? At that time Fort Lauderdale consisted only of Cuban settlers living along Miami Beach? When war broke out between America and Spain during the Mexican-American War (1846-1848), both countries were importing large amounts of artillery shells needed for their armies? To ensure timely availability for American troops fighting on both sides, President Polk decided to build stockpiles of munitions throughout key U.S.-Mexico border cities? The president ordered all gunners at home port cities across America “to commence fitting out their arsenals with such ordnance as may be requisite for our defense against any possible attack from Mexico”? Consequently, many civilians also became involved in helping arm American forces; some becoming known as “gunner’s wives”? By 1847 there were three Arsenal stores operating within downtown Ft Lauderdale – two owned by Mr & Mrs Whitey Earle (a prominent local militia captain) and one operated by Captain Ayerstall which served not just Ft Lauderdale but also West Palm Beach?, Stonington Island?, Boca Raton?, Jupiter Bayou.?ombshell business started here back then too! Factory workers would go door-to-door selling small quantities of cannon shot while men walked around town carrying cases full of various types or projectiles called cartridges.? Manufacturing proceeded slowly at first due largely to lack of raw material but gradually increased production thanks largely to new technologies developed at Wacoal Ammo Corp.? By 1923 shipments totaled more than $1 million per day??? With unprecedented growth brought about via world depression which hit Americas economy hard,, Armoury stocks grew rapidly ??? Most notably 3 mm machine guns became available ?? And so began oneofthe most pivotal periods in Armoury history !!! Gunnery instructors began arriving here from WWI veteran camps scattered throughout America???? soon enough we had over 1/2 dozen Instructors !!!!!! Factory managers started commandingeering employees ??? One store manager said “at present we have more employees working here than we do products”????? Eventually Ordnance relegated manufacturing operations completely inside the original buildings on Northwest Fourth Street NW????? remaining HERE until closing down 1984 ??? All told there were nearly 100 Armory employees during this time period !!!!!!!!!!!!! Many residents who lived closeby remember hearing shelling going off outside their windows daily during those years !!!!! Of course since ammo production stopped there aren’t any remnants left today except a few bullet fragmentries hanging around like relics from another era

In the early 1800s, powder was still being made in small quantities in Lauderhill, Florida. A store called "The Rifle and Pistol Company" was opened in 1814. It is thought that this store may have been the first gun shop in central Florida. Ammunition for rifles and pistols was sold here until about 1850. In 1857, a factory was built in Lauderhill to produce cannonballs for the Seminole Wars. The factory produced 30,000 cannonballs a day until it closed its doors in 1861 due to lack of demand from Confederate forces fighting against the United States during the American Civil War. After the war, production of artillery ammunition shifted to other plants until around 1915 when a new plant was built in Lauderdale Lakes with an annual production capacity of 10 million rounds of ammunition. This plant continued operations until it closed down in 1970.
Lauderhill is a small town located in Pasco County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,581 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville metropolitan area. The first Europeans to visit Lauderhill were Spanish missionaries in 1763. A small community developed around Fort Presley on the northeastern edge of the town in 1819. The fort was abandoned after the American Revolution and most of its land became part of what is now Pasco County. Lauderhill's first post office was established in 1825 and remained open until 1912. In 1906, a new town hall and school were built in what is now the center of town. In 1911, Drs Jens Petersen and Harry Rasmussen founded Day Hospital which served as both a hospital and clinic for local residents with various medical conditions until it closed in 1969. A large agriculture sector emerged during World War II due to efforts by General Motors to produce munitions here from plants outside Jacksonville; however, these activities came to an end after bombings at two plant locations in 1944 that destroyed much of downtown Lauderhill and killed more than 50 people

Lauderhill is a city in Monroe County, Florida, United States. The population was 7,471 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville–Ft. Myers–Canton Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name “Lauderhill” comes from English settlers who named it for Lord Levis, who had come to this area in 1821 as a military officer in the Seminole Wars. Lauderhill was also founded by Scots-Irish settlers and their families in the early 1800s. In 1895, Lauderhill was incorporated as a town and remained so until 1959 when it became a full-time city. The history of Lauderhill can be traced back to 1821 when English settlers named it for Lord Levis who had come to this area in 1821 as a military officer in the Seminole Wars. Sir George Washington appointed him brigadier general on July 10, 1821 and he served with distinction during the Seminole Wars against Native Americans. After his service concluded, he returned home and began exploring this area which would later become known as Miami County (in today’s Broward County). He purchased 3 acres of land near present day Lauderdale Road and Fourth Street where he built what eventually became his plantation called “Levis Manor” which served as an agricultural center for many years until being sold to John Lillis Sr., one of the first white men to inhabit what is now Lauder Hill Township on February 5th, 1830. In 1895, Lauderhill incorporation as a town took place following its sale by John Lillis Sr., one of the first white men to inhabit what is now Lauder Hill Township on February 5th 1830 – more than 150 years ago! The city has seen significant growth over that time including annexations of adjacent municipalities such as Morningside Heights/Hollywood Beach (1962), Plantation Lakes/Lauderdale (1974), Anthem Hills/Nassau Hills (1991) and Neptune City/North Palm Beach (2006). With an population exceeding 7500 residents today, Lauderdale Hills remains one of North Florida’s most vibrant cities! Its rich cultural heritage includes several important historical museums includingulpture Park located off I-95 just south of downtown; Gadsden Branch Library located within walking distance off Corporate Drive; Bank One Stadium – home of both Jacksonville Jaguars football teams during their days as an NFL team before moving up into their current stadium; and many more! Today marked another milestone for Lauderdale Hills with plans announced by Mayor David Davenport to add new businesses totaling $50 million within phase 1b Of A New Economy plan designed specifically for Downtown areas across North Florida through economic development partnerships with local governments - creating jobs not only here but throughout our region! This exciting news signals continued growth & momentum for our community while preserving its unique character & culture!
Lauderhill was founded in 1851 by a group of farmers and their families who were looking for a place to live. The town grew quickly, becoming one of the most important communities in Florida. It became a major manufacturing center, with industries such as textiles, shoes, and cigars. In the 1920s and 1930s, Lauderhill was known for its nightlife and social clubs. The town also hosted several international events, such as the Miami Beach Olympics in 1932 and the Summer Olympic Games in 1976. In recent years, Lauderhill has experienced some ups and downs. In 2007, it lost its status as a city after it failed to make enough budget cuts amid economic problems. However, since then it has seen some revitalization efforts led by Mayor Carlos Gimenez. In 2016, Lauderhill welcomed its first ever professional soccer team when Tampa Bay Rowdies moved from St Petersburg to the town for MLS play.
