The post-World War II boom period brought new development: shopping malls were built throughout downtown in the 1950s and 1960s; and major thoroughfares such as Northwest 7th Avenue were renamed after then-Governor Lawton Chiles (1932–1966) or former mayors of Miami Beach (Wilton Canosa Filho). However, although some aspects of that postwar growth remain apparent today - such as large numbers of professional jobs - much of what made Lauderdale Hills great has long since disappeared behind high-rise buildings on Northwest Seventh Avenue or elsewhere... Today much of Lauderdale Hills' history can be found associated with its namesake John Lauder - including both his donation to the City for use as a park and his role in helping to create one of South Florida's most important commercial areas during its early years...

By 1859, Lauderhill had become a small but thriving community with a population of approximately 150 people. In that year, local officials decided to make Lauderhill the capital of Florida. This decision was based on the idea that Florida would be more successful if it had a central government that could provide better leadership anddirection for the state's businesses and citizens. The city hall located in downtown Lauderhill remained operational until 1925 when it was replaced by the present day Courthouse building which is now home to the Lauderdale County Government Center.
