The economy of Lauderdale Lakes is primarily Based on agriculture with some manufacturing operations taking place such as textiles or plastics production; however there are also a few small businesses that have sprung up over time including one restaurant that provides take-out service for local residents and another store that does catering services for events such as family reunions or church functions

Lauderdale Lakes is a town in Broward County, Florida, United States. The population was 9,876 at the 2010 census. Lauderdale Lakes was founded in 1902 by George and Fannie Lauder. It is named for Lauderdale County, Alabama. In 1960, the town became part of the Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood metropolitan area. Lauderdale Lakes was originally laid out as a subdivision of Sunrise Terrace on Broward's east side. At first, only white people lived there; later black residents were brought into the community as well. The town began to grow rapidly after World War II when millions of Americans moved to Miami-Dade County because of its growing jobs in post-war recovery. The city annexed Lauderdale Lakes in 1963 and renamed it Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport after then-Mayor Art Rooney Sr.'s campaign slogan "Make Hollywood Work Again." In 1966, a new shopping center called The Mall opened up just south of I-95 and downtown Fort Lauderdale. This brought more businesses and people to the small town than ever before; however, many locals felt that airport expansion into their town would have destroyed much of its character and atmosphere. By 1990 Riverside Drive had become too wide for single family homes adjacent to I-95 so developers built two million square feet (240,000 m²) of mixed use housing over two years near interchange 10A/I-10A known as Riverwalk Place North which includes an open air pool with waterfalls cascading down it onto Lake Worth Boulevard below). At this point Fort Lauderdale Hills had taken over most of what used to be Lauderdale Lakes while Boca Raton replaced Sunrise Terrace as the primary shopping mall district forFort Walton Beach residents living north of Interstate 95 (although some shops still located south off I-95). By 2000 all but one store from Sunrise Terrace were gone or been converted into office space or other uses including three churches that closed down due to weak attendance margins (St John's Episcopal Church on Dolphin Drive being demolished), making it difficult for even elderly residents to find parking near their homes anymore if they wanted anything besides cigarrettes or beer which remain popular pastime choices today despite increased competition from malls closer by such as Sawgrass MillsRyanair Center etc.. When I mentioned this development about five years ago now on social media an old resident who lives close by said she wishes someone would take care of her land like they did back when she could buy food from her grocery store across the street from where now sits a huge 3 story complex housing multiple apartments
