Today’s attractions include: Theader National Wildlife Refuge offers over 100 miles of trails for hiking and biking as well as fishing for both fresh water and saltwater fish species; including manatees and alligators; on more than 2200 acres (1000 hectares) which includes six ponds totaling . An award-winning visitor center provides information about local history while also featuring exhibits on natural wonders such as Big Pine Key Lighthouse and four smaller lighthouses within easy reach from downtown Miami; Dolphinarium – America’s First Sharkarium – features 8 marine mammals including dolphins, whales, seals & sea lions; along with 450 other species of animals representing 179 different families/species housed in 10 tanks or pools with depths ranging from 1 m (3 ft 6 in) to 120 m (380 ft 6 in) Pinellas Zoo features 12 animal species from around the world including pandas & gorillas; along with 3 interactive zones including an aviary/forest/river display gardens Fort Myers Beach Park offers boating opportunities for both freshwater resources like trout streams brookie bottom or artificial lakes filled with alligator prey or saltwater favorites such as giant sturgeon & rays; kayaking, canoeing & sailing are also popular activities available year-round

Lauderdale Lakes is a small town in Polk County, Florida, located on the east side of the state. The community was founded in 1898 by John A. Lauderdale and his wife, Anna Belle Gadsden. It was named after Lauderdale's father, who had settled in what is now Polk County in 1838. In 1922, the community became a city under the name of Lakeland. It lost its city status in 1972 and has since been a suburb of Orlando. Lauderdale Lakes is home to two high schools: Lauderdale Lakes High School and Orange Park High School. There are also three middle schools: Central Middle School, Grady Middle School, and Parkview Middle School. There are also several businesses in Lauderdale Lakes: Aladdin’s Casino Resort & Spa (licensed slots), All-American Dairy (readily available milk products from local farms), American Legion post #409 (a veterans center with many services for military members and their families), and JCPenney Department Store #527 (a giant clothing store). The first citrus groves were established here some time before 1900 when French settlers began planting oranges hereabouts as part of an attempt to establish citrus production within Cuba as well as other parts of Latin America where oranges were grown wild or overgrown by natives. When this venture failed miserably due to poor soil conditions, these pioneering citrus growers turned their attention to fig trees which they found growing abundantly around them along with other fruit trees such as palm fruits etc., which they began harvesting fresh from early summer until late fall monthly or even more frequently during warm months ................................................................................................. The first commercial grove stands were built soon afterwards near present day Palm City Boulevard on land once belonging to Mr James Wetherbee about two miles north west of present day Lauderdale Lakes ............................................................................... By 1902 there were at least six companies engaged in canning fruits including Ascania Canning Co., First National Cannery Works Inc., Purdy Bros., Ecker Bros., Hammond & Sons Company & Son Trading Co.; all of whom operated within one mile radius east of current day Lauderdale Lakes ...................................................... Swelling demand for fruit brought increased development both for industry and residences values soared throughout much of central Florida; however it was not until 1907 that modern grocery stores opened up serving the area………………………….. With rapidly increasing population density southern Floridians abandoned forestation lifestyles leading to conversion or acquisition various typesindustrial buildings/plans dotting environments now home to Dr Phillips Pharmacy(1925), Barnes & Noble bookstore(1981) – adjacent George W Moore airplane hangar/ factory complex 1925-1973 FlaDomes Dept Stores Dept Store(1972) ..… Today most residents commute either into Orlando via I-4 or Kissimmee through US 1 south past Apopka then US 192 east before turning into lushchase parkway
