The war was fought between Creek Indians and United States forces. In that day, bullets were made from lead and other materials. The first rifle used in warfare was an old muzzleloader called the “Old Model” by Colonel John Chilton of Georgia. He used it to fight against the Seminoles on Indian Reservations in what is now Polk County, Florida. The Old Model rifle had a barrel about 36 inches long and weighed just over 4 pounds unloaded. It fired buckshot or cannonball type ammunition which caused great damage to enemy positions but also resulted in many casualties because it was so inaccurate. In 1855, Captain Ziegler of the U.S.-Canadian Army created a new kind of bullet which he called “the Jolt” after his personal favorite horse named Jupiter (Jolt being an old English word meaning “to stun or kill”). This new bullet was designed to penetrate armor much more than earlier bullets and cause devastating damage to enemy troops who were trying to resist battle cries from their horses when they encountered them face-to-face. Captain Ziegler's design soon became popular among artillerymen and cavalry commanders all over America because it provided incredible firepower at short range while still remaining accurate enough for reliable shooting at close ranges. By 1861, most battles had ended with either one side surrendering or being driven back into their own territory by overwhelming force; however, some engagements did result in significant losses for both sides due to sniper fire from high up in trees or hills overlooking battlefields

Lauderdale Lakes is named for him and his wife who donated the land for the village. The original post office was established in 1893 and remained operational until 1923. The current post office building was built in 1951 and has been used as a courthouse since then. It is also home to Lauderdale Elementary School which serves students from kindergarten through eighth grade, as well as Lauderdale Lakes Middle School which serves ninth through twelfth grades. Lauderdale Lakes is located on U.S. Route 1 within close proximity to Interstate 95 and Highway 12A both of which provide access to various tourist destinations in nearby Naples and Fort Myers respectively.

Lauderdale Lakes was a small community in south Florida that was located on the lower Keys. Lauderdale Lakes was founded in 1901 by white settlers and later became a town. The community had a population of 1,000 people when it lost its status as a town in 1938. At its peak, Lauderdale Lakes had an estimated 10,000 residents. The commercial sector of the community declined after World War II and the economy of Lauderdale Lakes turned to agriculture after the war. The population declined again following the death of president Jimmy Carter in 1982. Lauderdale Lakes is now a census-designated place (CDP) with a population of 5,814 people as of 2010. It is part of Miami-Dade County and is bordered by Kendall Park to the east, Key Biscayne to the north, and Boca Raton to the west.
Lauderdale Lakes was named for a creek that ran through the area. The name comes from the Arabic word "al-Dalmatia". The first European to visit Lauderdale Lakes was José de la Rosa, in 1764. He named the area Lago de las Putanas because he found it difficult to get water from a well near his cabin. In 1824, Colonel James Wilkinson built Fort Walton Beach on an islet in Lauderdale Lakes. Wilkinson was military governor of Florida and decided to fortify the area against Indian attacks. The fort was destroyed by Seminoles in 1827 but its ruins still stand today. In 1907, Governor John Wainwright designated Lauderdale Lakes as a campground for state troopers during their enforcement of the prohibition laws. In 1916, the United States Army established Camp Forrest at nearby Will Rogers Park to house troops conducting World War I training exercises in Florida. Camp Forrest served as a POW camp after World War II until its closure in 1951.
