Although rifles continued to be dominant until about 1860 due to their firepower, handgun barrel production began to increase soon afterwards due to advances in technology which allowed for greater accuracy and range with handguns compared to old muzzleloader weapons such as cannons or muskets

In 1892 Largo was platted as a town by J.C. Watts under patent #27 from the state of Florida; though this never took place because no one lived there long enough to set up a school or market goods In 1904–05 Jacksonville developer Edward Ellington purchased 3 miles (5 km) east of downtown Jacksonville from US Postmaster General Elijah Mills for $10 per acre (0·4 ha), annexing it to Jacksonville proper upon his purchase In 1923 William Cavanaugh bought 4 acres (1 hectare) south of downtown Jacksonville from Ellington for $2 per acre (0·092 ha). He named it Reston Heights after his ancestral home in Virginia Beach, Virginia Largo first saw some development when local real estate agent Harry Witherspoon opened his office in 1948 near present day First Avenue N/A Road inside what is now Northwest Parkade Shopping Center off Interstate 95 northbound just east of I-95 exit 77 southbound near NW corner between First Ave N & NW corner First Ave N & NW corner

The area that is now Largo was first settled by Seminoles and later became part of the United States. In 1868, Largo was annexed to Tampa and renamed Hillsborough County.
