In the 1700s, new types of telescopes began emerging which allowed people much greater detail with respect to stars than had been possible before. Unfortunately, these new telescopes also required much more money and time than earlier types of optics devices- something that few individuals had available at this time. However, once again thanks largely to technological advances within optics itself- such as photography- Telescopes eventually became quite common both in home settings and throughout society as a whole

The name comes from the lantana plant, which grows wild in the area. The town of Lantana is situated on the banks of the Apalachicola River about 20 miles (32 km) east of Tampa and 110 miles (180 km) south of Orlando. It is a small agricultural community with a population of around 100 people as of 2010. The main businesses in Lantana are grocery stores, restaurants, and service stations. In recent years, Lantana has become known for its arts scene; there are several galleries and art museums in the community. The Apalachicola River forms most of its border with Seminole County to the north and west; to the east it borders Lake Wales County. Lantana has been home to several important events in local history: In 1924, Dr. George W. Lantz founded Lantana as an agricultural settlement on what is now state-owned land near Tampa after moving from Georgia where he had worked as a doctor for many years while helping found several other villages around that time including Allatoona Springs and Lithia Springs within our present day boundaries...The first store was built by Mrs George WdLantz on Bank Street near today's intersection of US Highway 1/State Road 3014." In 1965-1966 when local residents voted to annex into Lake Wales County their seven hamlets which straddled both sides of Apalachicola River - part of this vote being held at night because no one could be found to represent them during daylight hours (the county commissioners were already working hard during their weekly office hours)...In those days annexation proceedings were done through voting not lawsuits or arbitration like they are now...meaning if you lived contiguous with another village they would have had to annex too before you could start having services provided by your new county government" A year later on November 15th 1966 Hurricane Agnes passed through landfall just offshore from here bringing winds up to 185 mph (270 km/h), damaging homes along much of its path but sparing this small farming community primarily due to high water levels behind nearby levees caused by heavy rainstorms throughout much Of Central America that week... over $2 million worth damage was done rendering almost all assets lost or destroyed making it one of PolkCounty’s worst disasters ever according To FEMA records On October 30th 1969 President Richard Nixon appeared before Congress under pressure from then Miami Mayor Don Shriver who wanted him brought before Congress specifically Regarding alleged price gouging occurring within his city limits during both prior mayoral administrations - President Nixon stated "I am not aware that I have ever seen any evidence whatsoever which would support charges against anybody other than Miami Beach officials" While living here himself since 1961 Mr Shriver said he never saw anything improper take place outside city limitsduring Nixon’s time either"
Lantana is a town in Hillsborough County, Florida, United States. The population was 3,904 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tampa–St Petersburg–Clearwater Metropolitan Statistical Area. Lantana was founded in 1892 by J.C. Brown and his wife Lillie A. Brown with help from investors James Hickey and Wm. Prentice Chase. The first post office was established in 1893 and the name of the town changed to Lantana in 1896 because of its location on then-new State Road 2 (later US 1). In 1922, Lantana became one of three towns located along Interstate 75 between Tampa and St Petersburg; the other two were Plantation and Dunedin The change came about because I-75 ran through those towns more than once during construction which caused some residents to leave for new homes elsewhere on I-75 or take advantage of travel discounts offered by state troopers driving their trucks down I-75 to pick up people who had turned out to live near I-75's western terminus at Clearwater Beach instead of staying put near their old homes on Raynham Street in Pinellas County In 1984, voters passed a referendum amending the Town Charter to allow for annexation by neighboring St Petersburg if it voted yes twice as majorities were required both times Lantana has since been annexed by St Petersburg four times total
