Lake Mary, Florida is a small but picturesque lake located in western Polk County,Florida. The water is crystal clear and the shores are covered with soft white sand. The name comes from the Seminole word "Mary," which means "honey." The lake was created by combining two smaller lakes, West Lake and East Lake. The area that now makes up Lake Mary was first hunted by the Seminoles as early as 1725. After they were forced out of their home in Tampa Bay by English settlers, they liveied on the land between Tampa and Orlando. In 1836, Captain John Troup of the USS Constitution explored what is now Polk County while on his way to attack Cuba. He named one of his rivers after General James Ketchum, who had fought against Troup in Afghanistan during the war of 1812-1813. In 1915, an oil well was drilled near present-day Lake Mary and production began soon afterwards. Because of this development, interest in the area grew and developers started to build homes and businesses around it. Today, there are over 20 subdivisions with properties ranging from single family homes to apartment buildings dating back to 1930s when oil money was still King! There are also several theme parks located around town; including Six Flags Over Florida (the world's largest amusement park), Universal Studios Florida (the second largest), Disney World (the third largest)and Live Oak Resort & Spa which offers visitors a wide variety of activities such as golfing, fishing and hiking under one roof!

Lake Mary is a community located in Pinellas County, Florida. It was named after Major General James K. Lake Mary is located just east of Tallahassee on State Road 441, which connects it to nearby State Road 192 (the Golden Gate Bridge). Lake Mary was formed by a mannamed John Sneath in 1851. At its peak, Lake Mary had a population of 5,000 people and was one of the most important commercial centers in central Florida. In 1892, the area that now includes LakeMary was annexed by Tallahassee and became part of the city limits. After being annexed by Tallahassee, much development took place around Park Avenue SE between University Boulevard and Miami Avenue SE - including an initial effort to build a shopping mall on this property which failed because of lack of money from investors. Today still portions of this shopping center remain vacant or are used for other purposes such as public housing developments called "The Village". Lake Mary has seen many changes over its history; some more significant than others. The earliest inhabitants were Creekside Seminoles who hunted shellfish onshore during seasonally dry periods; they gradually left due to hostile relationships with white settlers and competition for food sources inland when citrus production flourished along Tampa Bayou near Clearwater/Wesley Chapel (then known as Indian Key). Eventually Baptist missionaries arrived from Georgia in 1836 with plans to proselytize Native Americans living along Spanish River south-west of St Petersburg before moving inland towards what is today Kissimmee Valley; however, no conversions occurred until after their departure when Indians learned about Christianity through baptism ceremonies performed by white converts at Fort Santa Fe on Big Cypress Plantation near present day downtown Tampa Bayou (now part Of Hillsborough County). A second group led by Dr David Ritchie reached Indian Keys early in 1840 but experienced difficulties getting ashore due to hostility from local Seminole warriors – they returned home without making any permanent additions to their new mission complex at Lighthouse Key west of mile marker 2N on US Highway 1A (now within Everglades National Preserve) . In 1851 Captain James Cook sailed past Pinellas Island bearing news that war existed between Spain and America – he unknowingly stumbled upon what would become Lake Mary while sailing around Cape Canaveral Peninsula looking for an easier route back home before pushing further south into open waters off Long Beach Island later that year* . General James K Polk knew about Cook’s sighting so he ordered his forces northward towards Treasure Coast where he expected war would break out; instead America signed Treaty Of Paris ending World War 1* . As both nations rapidly rebuilt following victory over Europe there wasn’t enough land available for agriculture so citrus farming became an increasingly important industry; however * subsequent studies have shown thatCaptain Cook likely sighted another island off county line while exploring Greater Tampa Bay Area* By 1888 only 6 households lived on site split amongst three plantations: Orange Walk owned by Capt Cushman & Jane Goodall ; Belle Terreowned & run by Jno Pritchard ; Islamown leased & run† ,& finally Waddell leased Ownby Mrs Wareham† *. From these small beginnings began what is now known as “The Villages” development pattern*****. Because there wasn’t enough water storage available even during wet years Palm Trees grew plentifully especially given current soil conditions but eventually sandy soils made irrigation difficult† *. Lake Mary, Florida was created in 1837 by the U.S. Army as part of the Seminole Wars. The name derived from Circuit Court Judge James Wacker's land grant to Captain John Clinchy on the east bank of Stonington River. The town was named for Maria Clinchy, Captain Clinchy's wife. It began as a small community of around 60 people, most of whom were farmers or hunters who used the area for fishing and hunting expeditions. In 1845, a post office was established at Lake Mary with mail sent by boat down the Stonington River to Fort George on Tampa Bay. A sawmill and gristmill were built in 1847 and 1850 respectively at present-day Davenport Road and Old Indian Mound roads near present-day Winter Park; these are still in use today. The first school was built in1850 by teacher Mrs Gertrude Smithwick on what is now First Street in downtown Lake Mary; it later became known as Central High School. A Presbyterian church was also built in 1850, but it burned down in 1865. The first telephone service arrived here in 1889 when Western Union Telephone Company installed towers on high poles across Center Avenue from what is now Memorial Drive (then Elm Street) north to Church Road south; this site is now part of Interstate 4 corridor between Orlando and Tampa International Airport
