At that time, target shooters from throughout the area would come together to use the local fields as shooting ranges. Over time, these ranges have been enlarged and changed a few times, but the basic design remains the same: a long platform with a number of targets placed on it.
Lady Lake, Florida is a small town in Polk County, Florida. The population was 1,890 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Orlando-Kissimmee-Fort Myers Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name "Lady Lake" comes from nearby Lady River which flowed through the community until it was diverted to become a water reservoir for Orange County. The original settlers were white Americans and Native American people who hunted and fished in the area around present day Lady Lake before coming together to form a community in 1851. As development increased along Interstate 95, businesses opened up and families started moving into what would be their final home. Streets turned into names like Main Street (now State Road 436), Griggs Avenue (now US 13) and Porter Avenue (now SR 436). By 1990, when the population peaked at 2,150 people and local governments began planning for future growth, plans were put into place to move LadyLake inland on land that had been donated by then-Mayor Henson Coburns. The first phase of construction began in 1992 and ended two years later; during that time, workers built a new civic center with an attached rink as well as several homes for residents to live in while they awaited their new village location. Phase Two began in 1997 and continued until 2001 when work finally ceased due to funding shortfalls after 9/11 caused by government initiatives such as George W Bush's Tax Reform Plan - one of many projects cut during his time as governor of Florida. An additional phase followed beginning again in 2006 but ultimately ending due to lack of funding once more following Hurricane Katrina; howeverPhase Three has since begun with the addition of new housing units near SR 436 which will connect with existing areas east of I-95 near US 14th Street South & US 17th Street North allowing easy access both ways for pedestrians & motorists alike Since its inception as Lady Lake Village back in 1992 there have been numerous expansions including: 1) A Phase III expansion completedin Spring 2017 which added over 100 brand new apartments including studios & triplescreened rooms overlooking I-95A providing much needed relief from gridlock on weekends . This project was funded through Community Development Block Grant dollars awarded by Governor Rick Scott . 2) A major redevelopment project under way now known formally as “Gateway District” which is scheduled for completion by Fall 2018 consisting of over 240 acres extending fromSR 436 northward all the way past Old TownLake onto newly annexed property located just east of I-95A . 3) A major renovation project currently being undertaken known informally as “New TownLake” which includes replacement or updated infrastructure including roadways, parks & playgrounds throughout nearly all neighborhoods within the boundaries of New TownLake making it easier for residents (& visitors!)to get around without ever leaving their doorstep! 4) A Phase IV expansion ongoing with Counties Manatee & Polk also contributing lands northeastward along FL 327 leading downriver towards Clearwater beach where citizens can enjoy panoramic views across Tampa Bay ! 5) An anticipated Phase V expansion set sail on October 15th 2020 expected to add another 400+ residences – this time not only located atop land already owned by Village but also adjacent to Kissimmee Marina making it easy for locals & tourists alike to get close enough so you can buy those boatloads of fresh seafood! 6) Finally we are currently working on a Master plan that will encompass all aspects related thereto – expect release early next year! All told there are now almost 4500+. Thank goodness our beautiful little town remains unbroken despite these various expansions because otherwise we may have gone too far!!!

Lady Lake is a small town in Polk County, Florida, United States. It was founded in 1892 by John Fenton and his wife, Emma. The community was named for Lady Lake, a body of water located east of the town on the corner of Pickens Boulevard and Ulysses Road. In 1922, Lady Lake had a population of 100 people. From its establishment until the early 1990s it relied primarily on agriculture; however, since then the town has seen an increase in commerical activity as well as residential development. Lady Lake is located at 27°27′41″N 81°14′20″W (27.419393 N 81.241363 W). According to the USGS cartographic office map available online, it has a total area of , including landlying areas that make up most of its eastern border with Polk County to the south and west and parts of Citrus County to the north and east. The town is situated on high ground overlooking Lady Lake reservoir which provides drinking water for over 5,000 residents from both sides of the lake. The village was originally built around two churches which remain today: First Methodist Church (built 1892) and Second Methodist Church (1902). In 1922 when Lady Lake was founded it consisted only of John Fenton's farmhouse and some outbuildings next to Pickens Boulevard on what is now Emma's place lot near current day Morningside Drive - this lot still remains in use today as part of city limits between LadyLake Village & Morningside Drive
