Lady Lake, Florida is a small town located in Polk County, Florida. The population was 1,524 as of the 2010 census. It lies on State Road 441 south of Jacksonville and north of Fort Myers. The community was founded by a group of English settlers in 1876. It became an important agricultural center during the late 19th century. In the early 21st century, Lady Lake experienced significant growth due to its proximity to Interstate 10 and its position as a bedroom community for both Jacksonville and Fort Myers. In recent years, however, the community has seen declines in its social and economic status due to changes in local politics and demographics. As a result, it is now one of the most struggling towns in Florida. Born into a wealthy farming family in 1876, Lady Lake's namesake lake was named after her mother's maiden name (Lake), which she inherited from her father. However, within two years of her birth Lady Lake had married John Fenton II—a man with no background in agriculture or real estate—and moved back to England with their two children. For over 25 years she worked as an nanny for various nobility and high-ranking military officers living near London; during this time she also developed close relationships with many influential people in England including Winston Churchill and Sir Stafford Cripps. After World War I ended things changed again when Mrs Fenton decided to move back home again with her three young kids while John served out his sentence for perjury at hard labor camp (later freed). Shortly thereafter they divorced but continued to live cheek by jowl until he died suddenly from pneumonia just months before Christmas 1914 at age 47 while Lady Lake still lived at home with her kids; upon his death she moved into an apartment within walking distance of where she currently resides today(although there have been several moves throughout her life). Though never married herself (she converted to Roman Catholicism shortly after divorcing John)Lady Lake did become quite popular among many members of polite society throughout Britain because she could speak fluent English fluently despite not having any special skills other than being born into a rich farming family that could easily have afforded such an education (albeit one without formal tuition). Though Mrs Fenton never remarried nor traveled outside Of England much afterwards notable exceptions were made like Princess Beatrice who spent some weeks living communally amongst poor villagers near Oxfordshire after being driven out of Windsor Castle following Prince Consort Edward VIII's abdication led by then Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin; later Lady Bird Johnson spent several weeks living communally amongst Aboriginal Australians during World War II on invitation from then Prime Minister Robert Menzies although neither woman actually resided permanently within Australia . In fact even Queen Elizabeth II only visited Australia once during her reign-during proceedings surrounding Federation Day celebrations held at Sydney’s King Alfred Park - more likely because Australian officials were unwilling or unable to entertain foreign dignitaries residing inside their country at that time . Even though few if any foreigners ever resided permanently within Bridgetown itself during its entire history locals continue occasional reminisces about those days through various forms OF communication including email which took off towards the end decades especially given increasing international distances & communication technologies ..... so much so that even some residents now active & engaged WITH THEIR COMMUNITY THROUGH ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS still remember their individual histories even long past retirement age .......just like how many residents still vividly recall each day’s weather conditions back when daily newspapers would be dispatched daily service operated out OF THE LOCATION

He used the fort to control trade along the St Marys River. In 1897-98, Fort Dearborn was renamed Fort Polk after General Smith’s death. The fort remained in use until it was surrendered to Confederate forces during the Second Seminole War in 1921. The first school in Lady Lake opened in 1887 under teacher Anna Wigglesworth Tomlinson with three students. A second school opened in 1903 with four students under teacher Lillie Blythe Whitehead Perryman. A third school opened in 1907 with five students under teacher Alice Cooksey Cobbett Gadsden (1869-1941). A fourth school opened in 1912 with six students under teacher Flora Eaton Goodloe (1889-1964). A fifth school opened in 1917 with seven students under teacher Maybelle Ellingwood (1900-1968). A sixth schoolopenedin1921with eightStudentsunderteacher Hattie Pryor Lee (1901-1982). An eighthschoolopenedin1965with nineStudentsunderteacher Joann Jenkins (b 1918). Today there are ten Schools that operate out of LadyLake Elementary School through Middle School
Lady Lake was founded in 1824 by Captain James Cook, who named it after his mentor and friend Admiral Sir George Rodney. The first post office at Lady Lake was established in 1829. In 1847, the town of Lady Lake was incorporated as a village. By 1880, the population of Lady Lake had grown to over 500 people. The first store in Lady Lake opened in 1886. In 1907, the Great Miami Hurricane hit Florida and destroyed many homes and businesses along the Gulf Coast. Many people lost their lives as a result of the storm and its aftermath. As a result of this tragedy, Governor Averell Harriman allocated $10,000 for reconstruction efforts in South Florida. LadyLake was one of the beneficiaries of this largesse and saw rapid growth during its initial years of Reconstruction; by 1914, it had reached 1,500 residents. In 1923,Senator Claude Pepper madeLadyLaketheseatofhisdistrictioninFloridaafterbecomingthefirstDemocratic Senator fromMiami-Dade County. By 1930, much progress had been made with regards to infrastructure development throughout South Florida; however World War II interrupted any such progresses. Because of this occurrence,LadyLakeonlyreceivedlimitedinvestmentandamenitiesduringitstimeasaresidenceforAlaska natives only until 1958 when it became an all-white area once again following racial integration within South Florida's political landscape
