In 1892, a man named John Waddell bought land in Lady Lake and began to shoot deer with his rifle. He named his property “Wadsworth” after himself. Later that year, he added a second property to his holdings and called it “Henderson’s Place”. The first official gunshot in Lady Lake was fired on November 10th of 1892 by Mr. Henderson when he took aim at a deer on his property.

The name "Lake" came from the way it looked like a shining body of water with no bottom - perfect for swimming and fishing during hot days on the beach or when frolicking in its many coves on a cool day. By 1904, when Lady Lake became an incorporated town, it had over 100 residents and businesses including two hotels and several banks that served as financial anchors to the community until deregulation caused their collapse in the late 1990s after years of heavy industry investment which spelled doom for much of south Florida's agricultural sector - one reason why so many people remain local to this day despite rapid changes in their economy across Interstate 95 highway miles away downtown Orlando! The first lady mayor of Lady Lake named Mrs Fenton (1897-1902) led efforts to have streetlights installed throughout town; they were finally done in 1927 and continue to be used today as part of village history museum displays about early 20th century life hereabouts In 1922 Mr Pritchard donated land east of town along I-95 near Daytona Beach for what would become known as Ormond Beach State Park while still living in Lady Lake; he left instructions that state parks could only be built upon gift land not sold commercially Many other notable residents have helped make Lady Lake what it is today such as Mrs Hommel (1910-) who chaired Ladieslake Chamber Of Commerce; Revd Dr Crouch (1920-) who pastors First Methodist Church which also sponsored various civic events through its bake sale fundraiser annually until 1985 when church membership dwindled; Revd Dr Cook (1989-) who has been Pastor at St John's Episcopal Church since its founding seven years ago making him one of only three ladies Pastors/Church Leaders currently serving parishes within Kissimmee Township . harvesting sugar cane season runs from late April thru early October around large plantations located outside Vero Beach where workers power tractors to extract the crop before being transported by rail back into Vero Beach where processing takes place according to specific growing cycles

After the war ended they continued moving into Jacksonville until all African American residents were expelled from the city in 1967 following passage of The Voting Rights Act of 1965. Today Lady Lake is home to some 800 people who are descendants of those who lived on or near the island during its early history. Many items associated with this period have been preserved or restored over time, including artifacts from Indian cultures such as beads and headdresses, clothing and tools used by Spanish colonists, cannons looted from Mexico during their occupation of Florida (including one still employed at Calafia), materials used for building boats and homes on Lady Lake (including coral blocks quarried from nearby Anacostia Reef), food storage supplies brought over by Seminole Indians when they arrived at Lady Lake in 1675-1676, tobacco seeds collected by English settlers along with other natural resources at what is now mile marker #1 on Interstate 95 north of downtown Jacksonville
The Lady Lake community was founded in 1922 by Mrs. Anna B. Strong and her husband, Dr. D.C. Strong, who also owned a farm near the community. The first school was built on the farm in 1922 and since then, many residents have helped to make this small town one of commerce and culture in Florida's panhandle region. Today, Lady Lake is home to more than 400 people and it is an important center for education and industry in the area. There are several businesses that provide services to the community including banks, health clinics, restaurants and retailers. The local paper is also published here and it has been instrumental in helping to keep Lady Lake vibrant over the years
