At that time there were only two families living in town and both were farmers who raised chickens and pigs. In 1911 Captain Sanford donated land to make way for what is now downtown Kissimmee. Notre Dame University's football team played their home games at Doak Campbell Stadium from 1925 through 1975 before moving to Raymond James Stadium for the 1976 season; however, Notre Dame still keeps some letterman equipment stored at Doak Campbell Stadium which can be seen during home games today (although not used). During their time playing at Doak Campbell Stadium%, Notre Dame compiled an overall record of 43-5-1 (.904) against all opponents including 7 bowl appearances including 2 X Sugar Bowls (1937 & 1938). On November 10th 1956 FBS school Florida State Seminoles hosted Notre Dame in what would become one of college football's most famous contests ever played with nationally televised coverage beginning at 4pm EST/11am PST; this game would also serve as the final meeting between these two universities before both schools switched to Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) competition under new head coach Lou Holtz following the resignation of Bobby Bowden after 5 seasons as head coach at Florida State University. However despite heavy preseason pregame festivities both teams remained inactive throughout Saturday’s contest due largely to unsettled unrest across South Korea ensuing from communist rule over portions thereof – a situation which ultimately led directly unto military conflict there begining just over 2 decades later!
