GOLI created a new type of eyeglasses known as safety glasses or shooting glasses because these glasses resembled traditionalsunglasses but came with built-in ballistic shields that protected against projectiles hitting the user's face directly above his or her eyes while shooting firearms safely indoors or outdoors using traditional firearms manuals such as NRA Handguns Shooting Instruction Manual #9th Edition (1990)
