For many people, the term “gun target” is something they know and love. Whether it’s a local fair where you can purchase targets from concession stand vendors or if you own your own firearms, Target shooting has always been a part of American history. In Kissimmee, Florida, there are many years of history to explore when it comes to this activity. The first gun target park in Kissimmee was located on Park Avenue in the town of Kissimmee in 1925. The target range was opened by J.B. Earle and his son with $2,000 worth of donated rifles and pistols. Over time, other businesses came up with their own target ranges within the limits set by Earle and his successors at K-Targets Incorporated (later known as Liberty Targets). During World War II, the National Defense Association established a military pistol range on Northwest 4th Street in downtown Kissimmee that became operational during October 1945 after being leased from the City of Miami Beach Municipal Court Building (now Bayside Plaza). This NRA range operated until 1957 when it closed due to lack of funding. Kissimmee also hosted its first rifle match on November 10th 1906 when 22 men took part from four different towns across Southwest Florida for what was called an “open competition” sponsored by Captain Edwin Wittenborn who then served as curator for the Jacksonville Museum of Art (later known as Jacksonville State University). At that time there were no rules governing how guns could be used at these type competitions which led to some very close calls between participants! It wasn’t until 1927 that boating enthusiasts found a suitable location for their next big event—the Lake Okeechobee Gun Club Shooting Tournament which drew 60 competitors from throughout Central Florida over two days before concluding with another contest on December 1st at tracks adjacent to Crispy's BBQ restaurant near downtown Okeechobee beach. That same year saw the launch of America’s first handgun match while still taking place outdoors using Trap & Skeet equipment provided by Eglin Rifle & Pistol Company outfitted by Captured Gunnery Sergeant John Hancey USMC during World War I who later became involved with NRA activities in Kissimmee through his company Air Guns Unlimited following the end of hostilities in 1918; airguns were not yet considered firearms under US law at that time! The 1911 pistol matches would continue annually until 1949 inclusive other than 1939 when they were combined into one event called “National Pistol Championship Match #1 at Olympia Fields Racetrack Drury Lane Race Course – Saturday September 5th 1939” which was won by Harry Weems Jr., owner/operator/managing director of Weems Firearms Corporation who had previously won several titles including championships with Colt revolvers dating back to 1892! By 1961 all events except 1911 pistol matches had been discontinued but continued sporadically through most of 1970s before finally disappearing altogether! It wasn’t until 1978–79 when NRA member Donnie Hibbard revived interest intarget shooting with his successful creation and operation dubbed simply Don Hibbard Range located off Sawgrass Rd just east Of Hardees Blvd north Of Interstate 95)which lasted until 1984 when ownership changed hands again resulting in ultimate closure!! After much discussion among members about future plans none appeared possible so DON Hibbard Ranges final curtain call occurred on January 15th 1985!!!

On November 5, 1928 the first ever concealed weapons law in the United States was passed in Kissimmee, Florida. This law allowed citizens to carry firearms without a license. The law did not go into effect until January 1, 1929.

Gun Target History is a compilation of articles and essays that deal with the history of target shooting. One of the earliest references to targets can be found in The Art Of Archery, by George S. Cramer in 1868. This book described how to shot practice arrows at stationary targets using traditional methods such as weight, aim, and release. In 1865 an article was published in Harper’s Magazine entitled “On MarksmanSHIP” which discussed target shooting techniques and their application to competitions. In this article the author listed five types of shots: ship, rabbit, squirrel, rabbit-in-a-basket (Rabbit I), and birdseye. He also mentioned how to find a good spot on your target with respect to wind direction and elevation for optimum results. The popularity of target shooting began to grow during World War II when more people began using firearms for military purposes. This increased demand for accurate ammunition led manufacturers to produce new types of targets that could be hit from different distances without having to adjust your scope or launch an arrow over multiple times in order to achieve success. The modern era of target shooting begins with the development of airguns in the early 1920s which allowed shooters to hit small objects from great distances with ease. Airguns have since become standard equipment for most rifle shooters around the world and are still used today for practicing marksmanship skills

The area became an agricultural center and large cotton plantations were developed here. A post office was established at Kissimmee in 1845, and the town had a population of about 1,500 people by 1860. It became a section of Jacksonville when that city was created from parts of Polk County in1863. The economic prosperity of Kissimmee led to its growth as a bedroom community for Jacksonville until the late 1960s when it experienced rapid growth as an amusement park with three theme parks, four casinos, five shopping malls, two golf courses and many housing developments. After years of decline during the 1990s recession combined with plummeting real estate values throughout much of Florida (including most heavily populated areas), commercial development resumed recently with some new projects such as the Walt Disney World Resort just across the state line in Orlando coming onstream over what has been called “the largest Infrastructure project ever undertaken by any municipality outside Tallahassee” according to Mayor Buddy Dyer himself Today kissimmeee is one of fastest-growing cities inFloridaand it continues to be known for its rich history including key events like Woodstock Music Festival which took place here back in 1969
