Kissimmee, Florida is a city in Miami-Dade County, Florida. It is the county seat of Miami-Dade and has a population of over 165,000 people. The city began as a small community on the banks of the Kissimmee River. In 1875 it was incorporated as a town and became part of Miami-Dade County. In 1963 it merged with Dania Beach to form Dania Beach-Kissimmee which still exists today as an independent municipality within the Miami metropolitan area.
