After disembarking his ships at Marathon Island, Commodore Fenton built a small fort known as Fort Defiance near what is now Frenchman's Wharf on Coaxiale Island (now known as Marco Island). On Biscayne Bay (now known as Jupiter Beach), Commodore Fenton built a small fort known as Fort Graciella which served as both a storehouse and military base during this time period. On nearby Coaxiale Island (now known as Muskegon Beach), Commodore Fenton also constructed a small palaceknown as White House complex followed by another smaller fort known as Black House Complex later renamed Government Hill after Ulysses S Grant who owned property adjacent to it during this time period It should be noted that while these structures are still standing today they are not currently open to public visitation because they are under construction again! Later on in 1839,Captain John Hormel sailed into Miami bay aboard USS Constitution when he discovered cocaine smuggling going on between Panama City and HavanaBay using undocumented immigrants brought over overland from Latin America! This discovery led to increased tensions between America and Great Britain over control of South America; however nothing came of it until 1840 when HMS Erebus became lost off Stonington Cove while hunting sperm whales! This led to an international standoff over whaling rights which lasted until 1845 when HMS Beagle successfully located HMS Erebus off Stonington Cove! This event is considered one of the most important naval missions ever accomplished! In 1830s-1840s many spanish colonists moved down here due their fears about roto Americans coming here looking for them so they could rob them or worse . Some say gunrunning started because American traders thought key west was just another place where rich spanish people stored their treasure
