Gun magazines have a long and varied history in Key Biscayne, FL. The first gun magazine in Key Biscayne was the Key West Rifle Club’s Pistol Mag which was published from 1892 to 1897. From 1898 to 1902, the Key West Rifle Club published The National Rifleman which was a hunting magazine with articles about firearms, hunting trips, and more. In 1903, the Key West Rifle Club merged with the Miami Beach Rifle and Pistol Club creating the Miami Beach Arms & Armour Journal which continued until 1912 when it merged with The Sporting Life of America. In 1916, the Miami Beach Armory closed its doors after publishing over 100 issues. However, in 1919, another gun magazine called The American Shooter started publication within the Keys. This magazine lasted until 1926 when it merged with Field & Stream Magazine. After printing over 200 issues of Field & Stream Magazine, it stopped operations in 1929 along with most other gun magazines in America due to economic reasons. However, not all Gun Magazines were created equal! Some of the earliest Gun Magazines that were published were those back in 1892-1893 that were run by Island Cricket Clubs (ICC). These club publications acted as training manuals for future rifle shooters and also provided information on shooting matches and NRA events across Florida at that time. Furthermore, these early Gun Magazines had some great artists contributing their artwork such as Rolland Payne who illustrated many of their Issues including issue #2 (April 1893). Additionally notable contributors to these early Gun Magazines include John Fenton who did covers for bothissues #1 (January 1893) and #3 (April 1893).

Key Biscayne is located on the southeastern coast of the state and includes most of the communities that make up South Beach. The name Key Biscayne comes from two Spanish words - "Bis" meaning "Island" and "Cayo" meaning "shore." The island was first sighted by Columbus on his voyages in 1493 or 1494 and he called it Isla de Cuba. In 1763 Captain James Cook visited this area and named it Isla de la Bahia (Island of the Bay). After American independence was granted to America in 1776, Key Biscayne became part of what is now Miami-Dade County. In 1909 Dr. JF Sorensen developed a horse resort on Cudjoe Key which became one of the most popular areas for visitors in Miami Beach. At that time there were no hotels on Cudjoe Key so people rented horses to visit some beautiful beaches along Broward Boulevard/Key West Road which are still today known as keywest beach Blvd.. Drs Sorensen's resort eventually closed but many tourists who enjoyed visiting there continue to visit every day including during prohibition when alcohol wasn't allowed anywhere near keybiscayne shores due to its clear waters! There have been many attempts over years at redeveloping Cudjoe KEY but none have ever come close to duplicating or replicatingDrSoren's original Concept! So much has changed since then that it would be virtually impossible even starting from scratch! Today all that remains are a few high rise buildings used mostly for vacation rentals; however you can still see evidence from DrSoren's Resort if you walk around town center particularly at Government Center where you will find several old bathtubs left behind from his days as an operator! That event is considered the foundation of modern revolver magazine publishing. At this point, revolver magazines were generally composed of four or five issues per month with each issue containing three or four rounds of ammunition each. There are several factors that contributed to this growth including the increase in firearm traffic during the period and the increasing number of opportunities for gunmen to find new victims within city limits. When Spain ceded its remaining territory to the United States following its independence from Spain, Santiago de Cuba became part of Miami and was renamed Key Biscayne after British Admiral Arthur Conyers Berkeley who sailed through that part of the Caribbean in search for treasure in 1815 while seeking asylum from Spanish authorities.–[1] On February 17, 1915, during World War I USS "Florida" fought off a German U-boat off Southwest Channel as she escorted convoy KX-17 en route to Guantanamo Bay Naval Base; USMC Lieutenant Harry Jaffe (USNR) was killed as result.–[2] On December 15th 1893 Fenton Copley arrived at Key West with his family on board SS "Lillie Mae". His boat had come downriver from Havana Harbor looking for investors in sugarcane land he had leased along the riverbanks east of downtown.– [3] Bennett Hardesty organized a group of men - himself being one - to purchase two hundred acres (100 ha) stretching south from Indian Rocks Road across SW 2nd Street towards Marathon Creek where he intended to build a sugar refinery using convict labor bought under false pretenses.– [4] In 1897 Hardesty sold out his share to Bennett's son Rufus W. Bennett Jr., but returned later that year and began construction on what would become known as Brown Sugar Refinery on Marathon Creek opposite SW 2nd Street.– [5]In 1931 Henry Hays established American Tobacco Company there with his brother Adolph Hays also serving as president.; In 1935 American Tobacco merged with Philip Morris International Inc., creating American Tobacco Corporation.; In 1957 it changed its name back to American Tobacco Corporation again.- [6][7][8][9][10][11][12]In 1960 TV networks ABC and CBS combined operations within Philip Morris when both companies were acquired by Gulf+Western Enterprises Incorporated.—American Broadcasting System became independent once more.—In 1971 Gulf+ Western Enterprises merged with United Artists Corporation—and then purchased Continental Airlines.—Gulf+Western Enterprises spun off United Artists Corporation into Creative Television Networks Incorporated.—Creative Television Networks spun off Turner Broadcasting System into Time Warner Entertainment Company—and then purchased — AOL Time Warner was born.—And finally upon Time Warner’s acquisition by AT&T – AOLTime Warner was born.—Today key biskayne’s economy revolves around tourism—-But before all this happened there were many other businesses that took root here like Brown Sugar Refinery which still stands today
