Since its establishment, the AAS has been instrumental in promoting astronomy throughout Jacksonville through its memberships in numerous professional organizations as well as providing educational opportunities for students across all levels of experience. Throughout its history,the AAS has provided invaluable resources such as observing guides and software programs to both amateurs and professionals alike. Recently, they have also collaborated with NASA Ames Laboratory to develop technology that can allow astronomers to image lunar surface features using low-power lasers!
